  6. I know a lad who works stobbaet dogs that he bought at a gamefair.they wheren t the real nice show type(prob why they where for sale).I was near sure irwin had blacks?the rest had lakies?what they all had in common was they enjoyed a show more than a dig.that's not slagging reckon that's common knowledge.
  7. Ps not sure how that walter Mitty thing ended my post, don't even know who walter Mitty is lol.I know your quite knowledgable in other areas but this plan is all wrong.no offence.I'd say if ye where lucky enough to find even 2 litters of your mates bloodlines being flashed around will not help your relationship
  8. AND WHY ""SHOULD"" ANYONE IN THE NORTH KNOW OF THESE DOGS? CHOCOLATE COLOURED?? 6 BITCHES?? 20 MONTHS OLD AND WANTING TO BREED? OLD SCHOOL TERRIERMAN??? WHY LOOK FOR A BITCH OUTSIDE HIS YARD? Cg,we ve chatted via pm and ye seem like a nice person so don t take this wrong.1.old nuttal stuff is mostly smooth black/bronze?if your mate doesn t know your plans and he has a high standard don't breed your dog to any bitch for another 3/4seasons as the close relationship may go tits up.you ve got a 20month dog at the end of the season?Good reason why and if ye don't know ye will next season.anot
  9. Todays Nuttal are small, mostly smooth blacks with a sometimes bronze tinge.People separate Nuttal into old and new.A terrier called Miner was supposed to be the dividing line between the old and new.The difference being that Miner supposedly had border in him.lots of lads who had dogs before Miner kept thier own line going these tend to be slightly bigger on some yards.People can slag the man all they like but he has proven himself to be a master geneticist, knowing what dogs produce etc.I would say few would disagree that there's more yards with Nuttal blooded dogs than any other blood that's
  10. The deep south is and has been good for a lot of things.of course this isn't politically correct to say.apart frm general Jackson I'm of course referring to the dukes of hazzard lol "my old school friend used to reminise about how he and his daddy used to chase the(varmints of another kind)across the corn fields with the chainsaw"he was from Georgia. UP THE CONFEDERACY,the wrongside won that war. Did ye know out of 49 volumnes of minutes taken from the Virginia senate, slavery wasn't t mentioned once? Abraham Lincoln said"if I thought one White man was to kill another over a slave I'd n
  11. Any good vet sells calo-cal-d liquid calcium.only really neccessary for pups as rickets is a more common ailment than most see.if your dogs in genuine need for calcium you will see badly shaped legs(in pups).otherwise a bone and a varied died of meal or beef should have them feeling ok.lidl do a good multi vit cheap and effective
  12. Please advertise all your poultry fairs in N Ireland here. Thankyou everyone
  13. SORRY COUSIN CLEETUS, NOW LETS GO GET OURSELVES SOME NEEGERS! :secret: :secret:   In the corn fields with ma daddi an de chainsaws lol
  14. Don't you blow my cover hepher and tell them I'm your digging partner lolYou have to excuse hepher he comes from a long line of brother/sis matings and is hideously undershot.very bad temperment also lol
  15. It would be boring if we all agreed and all was black and White but imagine ye had your perfect dog he produced a high percentage of workers one of which was his daughter.your old dogs done,10 year old and ye want to clone him,ye can t so ye go for as high a percentage of him as ye can.ye stick him over his daughter you ve 75percent of your super dog.my friend was given this advise by a well known terrierman."aim for 75percent of your best dog".I seen it done and the bitch I got was 25ib and 14"tts.I know what your saying wex pa but your looking at it from a "glass half empty"point.it can work
  16. Oohmydog, you ve listened to too many myths mate.I have a 3rd season bitch in my yard who's mother is her half sister and she is a very steady worker but more so she has never had so much as a kidney infection.she is far from show dog but as healthy an animal as I ve ever kept and while tightest bred in the yard she is is the most biddable and precisely the opposite of what you imagine family breeding produces.if all goes according to plan she ll be bred to her best half brother, and while I don t see any defects physically all I'm doingis saturating the characteristics I want to maintain.sick a
  17. That post is the biggest load of crap I ve ever read."interbred to the extent that deformities are common"then the punch line,"some of which aren t visible"?the greatest deformity in an "earthdog"is the inability to work to ground.it's the lack of family or line breeding of dogs of a high standard that is the main reason for the lack of "good dogs".worker to worker within a family is the way to maintain terriers,in the truest sense of the word.If the good genes contained within the good dogs where saturated by family breeding we would nt be gambling and hoping for 1 worker out of every litter.
  18. Pity,He was held in high esteem.when a mans name is being discussed in a thread, how is it off topic to ask a simple question about his actions?I did nt want to start a thread about a man held in high esteem who alledgedly turned against men who where only doing what he had spent his life doing. Hardly off topic either when the threads about people keeping lines going, did he do that or not?maybe the lot is OFF TOPIC! I know we ll chat about ratting and rabbitting dogs?or when we re on lads that kept lines going how's about mr plummer? He starting a breed of terrier not just a line.
  19. Just to clear the mans name(frank buck).is it true he testified in court as expert witness for RSPCA against digging men.was a thread on here a long time ago just wondered if there's any truth? Really hope the answers no
  20. Man spade?have a bit of sense.yeclogged the wound with thick glucose which when dried and hardened into a bacteria holdind sugary glue would only cause the dog more discomfort at the end of the day.if yow don t know what your at keep of other lads dogs.your constant use of anti biotics only hinders the dogs immune system but sure if it makes you feel good sure work away.the dog should be kept warm, cleaned as soon as possible,if you ve no water lucozade is no sub!heat and water should sustain a dog till most get home,if not then everyone I know bring sufficient cleaning products,of which lucoza
  21. Just a simple question.did anyone on here ever dig the dog as an adult, not a puppy.and if so how did they rate him?maybe he was just a good producer, how many times has it been said don t breed of the good dog, breed off the dog that produced him?obviousely he threw workers but was he anything special himself?
  22. should be a good thread, but you not going to tell us how youre doing?? I'M HAVING A GOOD SEASON, MADE IT TO DOUBLE FIGURES WITH A 1ST SEASON DOG, DOUBLE FIGURES WITH A 2ND SEASON DOG AND JUST SHORT OF 10 WITH AN OLDER DOG. HAD OUR SHARE OF BOLTS AS WELL. HOPING TO GET ANOTHER 6-7 DIGS BEFORE THE SEASON FINNISHES IN 6 WEEKS TIME. are you talkin about rats or they big red ones if so a think your at the madam if you think a first season dog will get into double figures on its first DIGGING season I can verify hephers quote. The dog has ben dug around 13-15 times this season. For the
