  1. I own this one he doesnt were the breast plate because he is soft. He has an exerlent nose and a fare turn of speed though no sight hound Bails hard on the big ones and will catch his own out of a mob. Ive had the breed for 30yrs and I wouldnt say he is typical but the good ones can be found.
  2. the dam to my staghound bitch was a greyhound from racing lines that was raised as a pet when the mate got her she was 18mnths old and couldn't run his bull dog was faster he just kept giving her the oppertunity to learn and it wasnt long before she was taking all game unfortunetly she got a bit to good at the killing part and developed a taste for mutton so at 2.5yrs she meet her maker.
  3. if man did not dream and experment we would all be swinging in the trees. think out side the sqare you are boxed up in man
  4. You will never know until you give one a go. might get some recall into the saluki. The hand bag might be handy for it to put its catch in as well. LOL

  7. why do you guys differenciate between ped and non ped dogs is it that they get a bit sus. on the non ped dogs -might have a bit of greyhound blood. just asking stevemac
  8. top dog that and exerlent seeing her doing so many activites no wounder she is so fit. stevemac
  9. Gday mate, I also have a deerhound xgreyhound she has exerlent acceleration and early speed makes most of her catches early in the chase how ever the longer it goes on the less chance a catch becomes. can I ask what is the main attrabutes you hope to acheive from this cross. stevemac
  10. First foxes were bought to sydney town in early 1800s to hunt along with a couple of red stags, The rabbit thing might have been true in latter years as hundreds of cats were released for that purpose.(recone foxes are hard on native wild life got nothing on those cats)
  11. Built for the boar that hound all that dog power a bit wasted on bunnies and rats. all the best with him. stevemac
  12. Very nice hound that Dan wouldnt mind him out here. stuntman were you born a cockhead or did your mother make you that way?
  13. well how about that Stabs I can rememberit being a ornamental garden plant when I was a kid and I can still hear my grand dad tell me it was rubish and would be a blight on the landscape, Guess he was right about that atleast. HAHA Ya that dog looks like some of the ones I new others looked more kelpie though others that had a bit of bully blood were very simular just a heavier head. stevemac
  14. Acdx kelpies are very common over here and are very handy dogs used on cattle I have worked with both purbreeds and this cross even ones with a bit of boarder collie blood even ones with a bit extra EBT blood for rough work pushing semi wild cattle out of mountain gullies and creeks chocked with blackberry and lantana( another couple of lovely plants imported from the motherland). Straight cattledogs can be accussed of being a bit lazy But i have always found them right there when you need them. Oh to be 30yrs younger and still playing those games. I used to spend a lot of time chasing hares
  15. Why the hell did some one take foxes to Australia for the sport, just like the hare and the rabbit, along with 6 deer spieces. stevemac
  16. Bugger them things Dan Ill face a cranky old hog any day but those mothers would just want to eat you. Read a bit in dutch Salmons book I think about staghounds taking wolves but I think they might have been the red wolf. i have also read acounts of stags. and kangaroo dogs taking asiatic wolves in celon both these are smaller sub-speices. As far as adding bull blood to a sight hound it is regarded as un-nessessary to do so in aus. as sight hounds have more than enough bottle for any game out here, doesnt stop some including myself giving it a try though. stevemac
  17. some very nice kelpie x greyhounds. when I was a few years younger and spent most of my time working every waking moment around cattle and mixed farms kelpies varried in stature quite a bit legy race types were consided paddock dogs and the smaller squarer type were consided yard dogs both had there place around the farms I hung around. Those cattledog x greyhound pups are commimg on fireman, the longer coat could be comming from a cattledog type from tasmania that carries a heaver coat almost long haired. Their are moves in some circles to have this tasmanian cattledog recognised as a sep
