What the Fu@k did you expect to see on a hunting site Pics of cute puppies in a basket with a pink bow on the handle. Grow some balls man or stick to your skirts what ever. but dont come on here bagging out people that have the fortitude so stand up to the looney left and their bunny hugging ways. By the way dont bother emigrating out this way either hunters stick up for one out here we sure dont need a back stabbing push your own barrow type like you out here. have a nice day now.

It is a lot of fun just a great heap of like minded people getting to gether and talk about the season thats been might not all be workers but at least 98% are as hard as nails. these dogs are all used on fox the bigger ones also on bigger game and the smaller ones on rabbits as well. no point haveing a running dogs just for shows because we just dont have them. stevemac

as stabs knows if we waited for soft ground we would never go hunting. we try and breed dogs with tougher skin and therefore pads and condition the dog as well as their pads for the job. this doesn't help every situation though at the start of last season my bitch put up a big buck hare that took her out of the paddock and up and down a gravel road 3 or 4 times this managed to blow 3 of here feet taking her out for a month. stevemac

Thanks for the antihistamine tip Stevemac ( not Steve MacCullom is it , have a mate of that name in UK and call him SteveMac) Is that an ordinary human type antihistamine what dosage a full tab ? No Im stevemac from Newcastle Australia. Our stinging nettle is the same with the more wet areas having the more lush nettle we use phenergan or clartine tabs one adult dose atthe first of trouble usually does the trick, not all dogs are affected by it and some suffer much worse than others.

tricky buggers them wallabys a. looks like you are having a ball I love catching pigs with sighthounds and I think you will to when they get the hang of it. the country side over there is a bit different to the bowling greens you have to hunt on back home a. good luck with the hunting look forward to seeing some more in future. stevemac just a tip on that nettle we carry an anti histamine in our packs in case we get a dog affected by it, slip a tab down its throat and this will this will fix them up pretty quick.

Mate their are plenty of breeds that will do what you are after the ridgeback is just one of them I got my first ridgeback 30yrs ago for the same reason Ive owned 12 over the years all have been exerlent companions though not all have had good enough prey drive. and contry to popular beleif they are a very hardy breed with minimal trips to the vet required. now days I spend most of my hunting time after pig or fox and find the ones I have now exerlent on both. I also run staghounds for the fast game and the ridgebacks are very handy at finishing the job of as they have good strong jaws. no

Over here the english bull terriers have been one of the main stays of hunting dogs in ausralia for decades wether they are first crosses used for foxes or line breed dogs used for pighunting the bully has been x with everything. the reason the staff has never been used much over here because they are to small and bring the size down on any thing they are crossed with. The pittbull has been used by some in latter years but relly the dogs that are produced are no better than the bully x's.

Gday young fella, what you decribe is the nature of the beast really. what you need to do is start to do is at home start by simple things like making sit for his dinner keep this up always as it teaches them to associate you with good things. the next thing would be to start recall training at home using a long lead attached to the dog using a call or whistle that you want to use to call your hound (hunts man uses a horn to communicate with his hounds) call him then pull him to you with the lead then praise him and give him a small amount of food. keep this up over several weeks until he is c

Cops with their own bunny hugging agender. over here you get city cops that have been transfered to the country and harrass hunters on the road if they see a hunting dog on your ute its happened heaps and they end up getting their wrist slaped because they dont know the law and make shit up. we have the australian pig doggers association who will fight this bull shit with solicitors if needed, recon you blokes need the same.

tracking collars and a quad bike mate if I had those things I would still have my hounds. great looking little pack by the way. we were foxing in some swamps and a couple of oat crops today recon those beagles would be just the shot.

to the best of my knowledge the bull arabs make up is EBTxgreyhoundxpointer either GSP or English, now days both bloodhound and greatdane has been blended into the breed by various breeders. common stabs he asked an ozzie LOL stevemac

Its all about horses for courses and how big the game is or hilly or flat the country you hunt. you all prefer staffy or pitt type bull blood in your crosses where we prefer EBT easier to keep the leg. even our bully greys are a much bigger heavier dog than you have over their. thats because the main game in Aus. is pigs which can be up around 100kgs or so. the fox hunters down victoria way still have their straight staghounds or whippet/greys, first cross bully greys. the main difference I see is that we will give anything a go and have much less predgidous against show dogs mabe because of o

stevemac replied to cúagusgiorraí's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Real working dogs, do not, look like fat labradors.. Frank. Totally agree Frank some of you mob really need to not let your RSPCA membership show so much and you might be more comfortable on a fat maltese x foum, fair dinkum. -
Here we go again .... The ridge is a naturally occuring mutation that was on the native African hunting dogs and was passed on to the offspring of matings with the European's dogs. They DO NOT HAVE SPINOBIFIDA! "That" ****** programme has a lot to answer for - making such an inaccurate statement. The producer of the programme has retracted that statement now - but rather less publicly than she made the erroneous one However, the RR can suffer from a condition called dermoid sinus - as can other dogs, people and some horses, but the RR is affected at a higher rate and it is thought to h
