We have freedom of information legeslation over here that allows you to find out how much is being spent on this and that. opposition pollies use it all the time to smash the government perhaps your hunting alliance should be doing this type of thing.
Personaly I would of listed gameness, inteligence, and a good nose above anything else.
Sure these attributes are as much a part of a good worker as anything else and the parents should show these attributes before they are bred from. these things are hard to pick in the welping box. However a dog that has these attributes but is to big to go to ground isnt much good to a digging man. I must say though that a dog small enough to do the job but no guts isnt much good either. the full package is what is required.
I would think that breeding true to type in the context of the working terrier what ever the breed would be to try and retain the atributs that make up a good worker in the first place ie small chest, strong jaw, desired heigh.
I think they were trying to differentiate between the to types and state that the beagles of hunt type with scare tissue in there ears are mostly likely stollen property and should be reported as such.
jammy fecker lol and i bet you have no anti cranks bothering you either do you, but then we dont have deadly snakes and spiders when we hunt so i guess it balances out have you lost any dogs to snakes or spiders
No touch wood ive been lucky with the snakes but ive had plenty of mates that have lost dogs to snakes the worst is when they come in your back yard and get the dog in its kennel.
Recon Id run my dogs on rabbit, hare, fox, hog, rusa, fallow, reds and samba deer then to really test them out give them a run on a red roo out west. Hang on I can do all that any time. Its great to live in the land of milk and honey.
Well I am a ANKC judge Have been for 12yrs kept and berd fox terrier Rhodesian Ridgebacks and English fox hounds for 30yrs I can tell you that It is a difficult job to keep pur bred working dogs to try to keep dogs as close to the breed standard and have dogs that work to a satisfactory level. but This is what I have done since I was about 12yrs old. I have nothing against cross breed dogs I even own a few but I do have a passion for pur bred dogs In any of the groups of hunting breeds of dogs there are still dogs that have a temperment suited to work. in some breeds they are far and few betwe
Some nice styles of EBT on this thread my brother breed them 30yrs ago and I used to slip out with one every now and then He had a great nose and would push cover as good as the best hounds all be it with out toungue never forget when he caught a sleeping fox and carried it out to us stuffed but still biting him on the lip. This breed has been the back bone of the aussie pighunting scene for 40yrs as a purbreed they have there limitations but in the right cross they bring a lot to the table ie heart courage nose and a fantastic holding bite not the chewing seen with some pigdogs just lug up la
Well you can thank the the libers for this they had wolves beaten in the USA, So the Idiots introduced the larger canadian timber wolf to replace them the dam things. These things run in packs and weigh around 200lb each.
I was told by Gail Goodman to keep an eye on Ernies dogs as they had been known to be like that and she said she doesnt run her dogs with him. I didnt see any nigle amongst
his dogs bwhile I was there but Im sure they would be capable to sort any out if they needed to.
Hi Dirtwinger do you live around Alberqueque I did visit with an English couple up on the east mountain, ( bloody fzeezing that day) they course with galgos and deerhounds.

I no David and Ernie have bought a male Deerhound from a good friend of mine out here to add to their coyote dogs in time.
I pretty sure theres plenty of wheelin and dealin going on around Davids.
Sounds good Ive got another good friend over there as well that spends alot of her time fighting the anti hunting lobby to keep it free for hunting.
Also got to hunt with some spanish Galgos they were pretty good for a purbreed as well.
thats good to here. I had It pretty easy when hunting with David as here has a polaris 4wheeler that sits 3 with a drop box on the back didnt raise a sweat the hole time I was their. Not sure of the ranches we hunted on all I know is that they went on for ever.
Those 3 dogs I put up are Davids rabbit dogs 5/8 saluki and 3/8 coyote dog good smart hard running dogs.
David said to me that those new mexican rabbits have pinned the ears back on more than a few of those rabbit hunters from other parts of the states who have come out their to see how good their dogs are.

Hi Whin ya we went to a resevation near Alber. I went down to davids with Ernst Echwald from Alber. we were ment to have a hog hunt but time didnt allow those prong horn were every where around the areas we hunted and his house . David is a terrific old boy and a wealth of knowledge. he sure has some dogs and those hogs in his training pen are pretty implesive as well.
I have just had a holiday In New Mexico very nice place I hunted with a friend of Dutch Salmons a Fellow By the name of David Hise. they have been hunting buddies for many years. I beleive dutchs health is not he best these days.
We hunted jack Rabbits for 2 days these jack rabbits that live in the desert are as hard and fast as any Ive seen and it takes a very good dog to course them.
