  1. There are 2 breeders that are doing the buisness in NZ 1- lockley with his bully cattle greyhounds or bully lab. greyhounds 2 monteria- with his britsh bull dog x pointer greyhounds or his dogo xs I m not a full time pig hunter though I get a few my son and I prepher bully staghounds I did meet an old fella a little while back that hunts everything including pigs with 6 or 7 whippets all pur breds about 20 to 21" tts they do well like a pack of parana its very impressive to see a decent boar stop dead when a couple of these are swinging of its nuts.
  2. ya can put handles on mugs but ya cant put brains in young fu3kwitts. doesnt matter what lies the media write about a story its just a story but you give them photo or video evidence and then its not just a story. Its not hunting its self that will stop our past time its dumb young cu^ts with mobile phones feeding the bunny huggers.
  3. Dont get me wrong I love a good cross of any kind but what are your thoughts behind this cross. sounds like you have had a lucky pick up, good luck with your dogs.
  4. Aye and a bunch off brainless yahoos running around with 8" knives, stabbing hogs while the pitts holding them. theres wiser locked up. anti alert To begin with I'm far from what you just stated. If you knew me personnally you wouldnt have had the balls to say that only on a computer as I would bring you on much pain fella. Have you seen the DVD in question? I think not, well I have it, and though most off it is entertaining and the hounds work well keeping the pigs at bay till the big dogs are brought along with there chest plates to hold the hogs while the lads cut the testicales off
  5. Great topic Dixiebop I guess as you british see as a scent hound is are those that hunt in the style of a foxhound ,bloodhound harrier beagle ect. But there are many scent hounds that hunt around the would and do not nessessarly hunt in the fashion of the british hounds. In the USA there are any number of hounds some running game to its natural conclusion giving tongue as the go depending on the game they run some and end hugging a tree baying at whats up there. others running until they catch. others are selected to run silent so they get up on their game before it bolts. Then you ha
  6. yes they are classified gundog by every Kennel club in the world but then they have been so right about and done the best for so many breeds! but whats in a name a utility hunting dog by any other name is still a ulitity hunting dog .
  7. i would of said speaking on a scent is deffo a manner that defines a hound from other breeds when hunting Purhaps your correct Terrier410 however many hounds breed for pig hunting are best when they run silent a hound that barks trail will usually have the pigs out of the district before they get anywhere near them.A gundog I would expect to quater a paddock weaving back and forth across the line of sent as I said the wie I had stuck to the line and and ran it like a hound He would only give voice when he was upto his pig however. A hound perhaps not in the strict sence of the word But maybe
  8. ya Ive read the same somewhere Lunita. the foxhound also has bull dog in its make up wilbur foxhound.Along with the breeds you menitioned. The good old Aussie pigdog often the same or simular breeds in their make up I often smile when i see the same breeds used to produce dogs for different purposes. The bull arab is a pigdog type that has used bull terrier greyhound and pointer both english and german, different breeders have also added bloodhound to the mix. wiemaraners are said to have been first used as hounds before changes in laws and game numbers determined their purpose c
  9. The symbol you speek of is on temples all over bali where they follow a form of hindu. guess the nazis stoll it for their own purposes.
  10. Well I go to one show a year mostly for a laugh and a beer with mates I havent seen ina while we camp out the night before and tell lies all night while on the piss. ive judged the running dogs and the terriers and cop a bagging when ya put some one elses dogs up or the ones you left behind beat my dogs the next year its all in good fun. must say its hard to go past dogs ive seen work when I judge. I figure you can do one of two things with your dogs you can bring out your workers and give the judge a chance to put up workers and let people see other workers or you can keep all the workers awa
  11. A good hound would be one that does the job required of it. I owned half a dozen all had different natures only some suited the job at the time. We hunted on large tracks of srub land back in those days and used hounds to push game over large distances to waitting guns. an independent hound that could push a trail and give a loud voise while doing so was a good hound. These days I hunt small parcells of swamp land that are surounded by open farm land a good hound is one that will push through the kurbungi and if no one is home come back so we can move on to the next patch and when they do pu
  12. Remote release catches on the kennel doors could be handy.
  13. No Doubt cleanspade its the slagging off and bullshit that gets in the way on this site. Was just looking for some intelligent conversation with out the clowns.
  14. Is there a forum for working russells getting keen on the Idea of getting one and have found some to my liking of late, It would be nice to chat with like minded people on the subject.
  15. Well theres a good topic turned to crap. I have a little experence with the breed both as pur and as x . Unlike the un watched and unholy show dogs over there we give every thing a go and are not tied to some sacrad" lurchers are a ------x and thats it and anything else is a sin attitude". We hunt x show dogs and show bred dogs basically because for many years we didnt have any thing else. Airedale are no different to any other breed theres still some good ones and some with a gleamer of what they once were and of cause some that are a waste of time. I guess what aussies have been good at has
  16. a good yarn whin , hope you found old David in good health, did you get to see his australian deerhound when there?missed out on the hog hunt when I was there but saw some great jack rabbit races from davids rabbit dogs. pretty rough country to be running dogs out there a, they always came back looking like pin cushions from the cactus they ran through.
  17. samba deer hunters in victoria use blood hound packs to drive the deer to shooters.
  18. So true simoman makes it hard for any antis to find us when were out hunting. never give it a thought when using strychnine though all baits had to be accounted for next day , the usual method was to shoot a couple of roos tie them to the back of the ute drive around the property tracks leaving a scent trail and someone sat in the back throw out a bait every 100yrds or so. next morning drove around same tracks picking up foxes and baits. Meet a couple of old fellas one time out on a property we were shooting pigs on. they had come out to do the foxes as they called it. same thing they
  19. wasnt it your lot that invented it comming out here with out women in the first place and trying to set up home.lol good on you stabs the sooner she is gone the better. the bounty is only in victroia the smallest state you know the one about the size of britian. Not a real good idea going near animals poisened by 1080 the crap is sastemic or some thing like that and will kill what eats that animal and the one after that and the one after that and so on . stuff should be band. strychnine baits were good in the 80s and before easly could take a hundred foxes over the weekend and no damage
  20. wolfhound xgreyhound perhaps looks like any old staghound out here
  21. Ive watched galgoes course jack rabbit in the states last year very good at their trade exerlent endurance and kept the pressure on the hare. most runs ended in a catch.
  22. aw i enjoy these boys ha..... i dont want the hound to go to ground you fool... but i do want it eating the banking of the hole the fox just dropped in....then in goes the russell.... beginners ehh pppfffftttt not to sure about being a beginer maybe I was 40yrs ago. Ive had dogs that would push cover in the past though Im always prepaired to give something new ago. Perhaps it is your use of the mother tongue or your lack of ability with it that may have caused you some confussion. having said that I have no wish to dig out houndxs either and were I hunt it would be a pain in the arse.
  23. Thats interesting about them going to ground not what id be after. we have a terrier for that work not to keen on a dog going to ground in the middle of a blackberry patch or such Perhaps a second cross to the beagle would be a better option. still I like the way the terriers hunt just want them above ground got a mate with a parson xwhippet and that little bugger will go to ground when she can..
