  1. Mudd is right its just a guide to a judge at a show to give him/her an idea on the size of a dogs chest in the feild the dog either fits down or it gets stuck in the den.
  2. I kmow what you are both saying I I raise my dogs running through the scrub before they are fast enough to hurt them selves and they seem to learn from it and pic when they are going to put the hammer down a mate of mine raises his dogs in the wide open spaces and has lost a dog chasing fox through a tree stands. As you say though Skycat they can be injured Ive had a couple stake them selves can be expensive.
  3. how does a ridgeback x parson count as a sight hound?
  4. a live deer with no antlers does less damage if he charges instead of running away . and now he has the other head to mount.
  5. The RSPSA fort a long battle with every docked bred club over here and won. they only fight battles with easy targets that will impress little old ladies with fat check books. Scum of the earth using the well fare of animals as a means to line there pockets. Of cause they wouldn't have thought they could get away with it if the E.U. hadnt started the ball rolling.
  6. IfI remember there could be parson jacj russell used a one stage. but I agree with sallie a pic taken from down at the dogs level would do him more justice
  7. Revmix is from Australia the dog is from good hunting lines and he bought it from the breeder. Theres know plunners in Australia.
  8. have any of you coursing guys tryed Saluki xdeehoundx greyhound. Ive seen simular dogs hunted in new mexico on jack rabbit. just woundering how they compare.
  9. it was good to see both of those videos the power and speed of the greyhound compared to the endurance and hearding of the saluki. It would be good to see a staghound run with the pair of them. plenty catch hares out here and dont take a week to do it.
  10. It seems that anyones experance on any breed seems to come down to the one or two they may have had experance with or just heard about. I would put it to you that any consideration of any x would need the breeder to find the right dogs to start with or do you guys just go and grab any old collie or greyhound to make a lurcher?
  11. We have a chap here in Australia that kept Boargreyhound and an from what he has said they are very simular to the stag or kangaroo dog both these breed were exported to Africa and india during colonial times the african dogs have been infused with ridgeback and boarbul for thicker skin and stronger bone. So I have been told. he used his dogs on all manner of antilope, jackal, brown hyeana and warthog.
  12. no worker yet time will tell. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  13. I get up to see these dogs work in the fleash when the seasons change till then keep smashing them mate.
  14. Would have thought a terrier that size would have had both those cubs deadi n a few minites. the smooth fox terriers i had were not bailing dogs.
  15. Could I surjest you go to the hound section and try and meet up with some begle guys in your area. other than that they do take to it fairly naturally. when its old enough keep putting it in the areas you wont to hunt.
  16. Not sure about UK working whippets They seem slightly smaller and lighter boned than the dogs we have out here, The ones out here are great dogs and get used on every thing. Mine is a happy addition to my pack hes a real thinker always positiong himself right to make the catch as a fox leaves the cover.
  17. I would have said you need more sex before sleep but after reading brenner's post be very care full buddy
  18. A couple of ways to think on this mostly I agree with CP and like to breed with proven dogs. how ever you could be running the best dog you are ever likly to see for 3 seasons then he goes and hits a tree or ditch and then where are you ? off trying to start with something new probly not related and know older dog to bring it on with. I like paulus comment because it is so easy to end up with a yard full of oldies and a new pup every 4 years would help stop that
  19. NO they act tough but not as tough as the catoons would have you believe. an average terrier would smashone pretty easily. Just in case your not sure they are fron Tasimania whish is part of Austratia not New Zealand The land where the whole nation plays Rugby. But dont mention it. dont they have real strong jaws? they eat carrion and fight amongst themselves alot but are not perticularly agile creatures. they do not run and hde, they do not need to as they have no preditors except maybe a bird of prey. and they really do not bother anyone. just go about there own business in their
