  4. im reaserching different types of gundog as im planing on getting my first one in the future. i know that HPR's tend to hunt rather like a pointer (fast and wide) so i was wandering if they were any good on a driven shoot, as in phesant and partridge? (as at collage i may not be on a grouse moor)
  5. have you still got it mate?
  6. is the big black one a potruguese pointer? or is he/she just a very black GSP?
  7. sparsholt is indoor chicken farming go to north highland college at thurso top o scotland. they get you a place on an estate and your on the job most o the time with a bit of class room stuff for the bits of paper. its the best in the country no doubt. i thought thurso was mainly grouse, because i figured i would learn how to do phesant and partridge first because ive been told by keepers that its easyer to go from that to grouse rather than visee versa
  8. just to clarify, there is no such thing as an english pointer, just the pointer. they started to be called english pointers to destinguish them from the german types when they began to appear in britain. and those words were strate from wilson young himself !
  9. hi guys! im wanting to know if any of you know where i could go beagling!? my dad used to be a puppy home and a whipper in for his local fox hound pack as a lad, but my fancy is much more towards beagling! if anybody knows of any beagle packs in south of scotland or north england it would be a great help! cheers, rob
  10. you would have much more luck with this add in the livestock section
  11. im just doing it to get an idea of what it involves! i did it by origionaly calling the keeper i beat for, but cos hes part time he gave me the nuber for a BIG estate (60,000 birds-ish) which i already knew the owner of which may have helped so im not doing it for permission or anything like that, although i may go lamping with them some time rob
  12. how would you train one to do so? also i take it you can train them not to take sertain species?

  17. apparently if you cut an old feed sack down three sides so it make a big rectangle and then paint really big eyes on them, and then have them pointing upwards from your pen, it poped up on here some time before. apparently raptors size each other up by looking at the size of their eyes probly no help but hope it dose
