  1. i would go to a well known person ,that does not breed of their dogs because they are to busy working them ,and pester them for a mating .then you know your not getting just any rubbish .just take a look at the world of racing horses .

  5. whin if people wanted to hunt together ,why call them clowns , we did not all want easy small roe ,some of us liked a proper challenge .where you dog was tested to its ability .and test your self at the same time no driving around fields ,good old sted and toe caps for me . geting those heavy old FECHERS to a pick up point keept you fit and healthy ,after all a good one was worth 4 of any roe .

  8. i did not mind keeping the type we had ,they averaged 150plus deer a season ,and they also done over 300 one year .some on the neck and some not ,it all depended on the situation ,ie ,if the neck was the other side of a fence then they would hang on where ever ,or if it was running flat out not many would grab the neck ,most would grab the shoulder ,because after one or two falling on a dog flat out they do get hurt and wise up ,this thing about neck dogs ,well i have only ever seen one that done it every time ,and he was some thing special ,if you ran your dogs on as many as we used to ,the
  9. yes mate ,the bitch never had any problems ,the little dog did all the work on that one because they were on different deer so ive been told, but hes one hell of a dog for his size, there was 3 litter brothers (one is dead now) they all work deer very well(well use too before ban) these lads were out on deer 4/5 days a week im told, the younger good looking one was out a bit more due to other 2 feeling it with thier age the younger one is going to have his legs walked of him when hes home next . for keeping on about age .
  10. the lad that owned the bull x got the head mounted and was told to keep it as a trophy , even tho the small dog done all the work ,that just goes to show how good some dog folk are ,because the person that owned the 21 inch dog ,has had more deer over the years than any one i have ever heard of ,and it was just another night to him , Unfit i heard the lad who owns the bull x dragged the buck a mile and the 2 a lot older blokes with him said fair play you deserve that head as your so good looking and strong... dont know how true it is but also heard that they had a few bucks like that

  16. here you go . the one i seen did not do it single handed,but it done all the work for about 6 minuits ,untill a bullx bitch and a brave person got on the seen to help out . it turned out to be a gold trophy head .and the dog was only 21inch whip x bedy . A dog holding a sheep till you get there to shag it doesnt count bah bah mare mare maybe if they over turn the ban ,you just might get out as much as some and be lucky to witness some thing like the stag being caught happen ,then again you probibly wont .

  21. dan they might be born ,but they only learn to take to the throat from experance ,i e, geting hurt and then realise its easier to go on the neck ,the deer kick like a mule and can damage a dog when it is on the ground with a hold rather than a neck hold , i was out with a dog at ten month old .... a few seasons ago.....and it accidently got on a deer ...when we got to it it was hold off the throat and it had never seen one before,,, never mind run one ....infact i seen one of two do the same pre ban off course .........i know nothing about deer has i only run rabbits too....just telling yo

  23. i have seen 2 ten month old dogs stop a 135lb fallow stag ,plus a 119lb one as well ,if its in them they will get stuck in .the one was also on the neck .
