  1. Keep most for my family and stinkers but a butcher nearby gives me £1.50 gutted with coats on(ferreted or head shot only) but we traded them for meat last time and it's a better deal. I know a few people now who have been going to butcher locally who sells to them for £6.50 each, so now i supply them when i have surplus(FOC). ATB Mick
  2. No ticks, no fleas and no mixy on my patch, touch wood it stays like that.
  3. A couple of seasons back one of my jills had a lump on her neck, it was underneath and to one side and came up fairly quickly. Trip to vet and £32 later the abscess was drained, course of antibiotics and she was fine.

  6. Would be interested in the dark poley hob if you still looking to re-home it mate.
  7. Back to basics mate, training for steadiness and response to stop whistle imo. As said above a shoot is no place for a dog chasing ground game, you only need one over zealous gun and you're dog might end up in the firing line. ATB Mick
  8. Silver wedding anniversary next year will be a bit of a milestone/achievement but as already said kids are my biggest achievement. Son and daughter in their early twenties and i am proud to be their dad. ATB Mick

  10. Not going to spend any of my time concerning myself with his death, him or the two arseholes that gutted him. I will however feel sorry and have great sympathy for his victims and family. ATB Mick
  11. Looking forward to the quarters and especially Ireland v Wales. Ireland v Wales is a tough one to call , youth in the Welsh side will be great to watch but i think the experience of the Irish will see them through. England v France could go either way, bit of a cliche but it will depend on which French team turns up. I have been unimpressed by both these teams and in all honesty it won't matter who wins as that will be as far as either one goes in this World Cup . So Ireland in the final. South Africa and New Zealand will meet in the other semi, would love to say South Africa win but e
  12. Welcome to THL mate. As already said, get out there knocking doors. You will get plenty of refusals but just keep at it and with a bit of luck you will get a 'yes'. ATB Mick
  13. The dog is only 5 months old and therefore still time for socialising and confidence building. Perservere mate and you will reap the rewards.
  14. Too much drink this weekend- hate hangovers

  15. The old boys i started ferrreting with 30odd yrs ago would turn it there graves if they could see what colour nets we use now but you have to move with the times and bright coloured nets are hear to stay THANKFULLY I agree mate, it was green or brown back then, if i had turned up with the coloured nets i do now i think i may have been sent packing.
  16. How do you know, rabbit's shy off bolting if they here noise above ground, smell nets so why not see nets. Didnt even say they cant see them... just say using brightly coloured nets has never stopped me getting rabbits... ... however my ferrets are either dragging a rabbit out or on the arse of a rabbit ... .. i cant prove weather or not they see them... which is why i didnt mention them seeing the net.. funny enough ive never had a problem with making noise above ground either... again though.. thats probably thanks to my ferrets ..(i have a wingy terrier (as most terriers are when
  17. Don't know if rabbits see colour or not but i have bolted and back-netted rabbits into green, yellow and day-glo orange nets and never noticed any difference mate. ATB Mick
  18. 18 meshes long will give you a net about 3'-0" using a standard mesh board (2"). I use the knot as described by Leeview when knitting with spun poly(or nylon in days gone by), don't know the name of the knot it's just the way i was taught over 30 years ago, it stops slip knots occurring and that can only be a good thing when learning.I use single knots when knitting hemp nets. Finishing is just as easy as knitting the rows, instead of a mesh board you're using the front of the ring. Good luck, it does get easier the more you do. . if you get stuck just give me a shout, i'm no expert nor a
  19. Same here Moe, nowadays it's a more leisurely sprint to pick them up. Great post/vid pocko, keep em coming ATB Mick
  20. Looking forward to Saturday, first trip out with ferrets this season, as long as weather holds out.

  21. I like going out beating for the craic and exercise for the dog(and me) but they insist on feeding me bacon sarnies for breakfast, sarnies with chips and a bowl of broth for lunch, then a couple of pints at the end of the day and £30 for my trouble.
  22. Always chin them in the net, quickest way imo. ATB Mick
