I'm not sure what you know of their history but we've reached different conclusions on what a Bull terrier was (and should be) bred for. Fighting and hunting are two different jobs, why would you need a hunting dog to be good in the pit? What purpose would it serve? I have the utmost respect for the Pit Bull, they are incredibly versatile and capable Dogs but there are reasons the Bull terrier suits me better. As I said before, if you want a fighting Dog you might as well take the short cut and get yourself a Pit Bull, I can't see any reason for trying to breed 'game' Bull terrier

I'd rather work with a Dog's natural instincts than having to work against them. I wouldn't buy a Pit and attempt to train it not to be Dog aggresive, that's like buying a Spaniel and training it not to sniff.

The trouble is that good working Pit Bulls tend to be very Dog aggressive so make working as a pack tricky if not impossible, especially when they're hyped up. They have comparatively little natural hunting instict, they don't know the meaning of 'let go' and although they apperently have a good nose they tend not to be as willing to use it as an IBT. If you want a wrecking machine with balls of steel and loads of drive then a game bred Pit is what you want. If you want a Dog that can work in a pack, use it's nose without training, have huge natural hunting instinct and will let go whe

Could you tell us a bit more about your Dog please Pongopalmer? He's a great looking Dog, with an unexaggerated head and body type. What's his drive, temperament, health etc like? Any breeding plans for the future? What's his breeding? Same to Samuri, nice looking Dog in your avatar.

You can't compare an APBT cross to an Ingles Bull, ask anyone that owns one. These dogs have been bred for generations as hunting and sporting dogs and it shows. It's like saying don't buy a well bred Patterdale from proven lines when there are plenty of Yorkshire Terrier crosses in rescue centres that will do the job. You shouldn't make assumptions about the Ingles lines based on what you know of other lines, they are different. If you don't want to pay good money for them then fair enough but to say an APBT cross is a fair approximation is just wrong. If you don't know what the differences a

I genuinely didn't know what you meant...mainly becaause I didn't know whether you were talking about the Bull Terrier in general or this particular line. The Bull Terrier was never originally bred as a fighting dog and the old tales of Puss have been largely discredited. They were certainly capable of it and crosses of them made some of the best fighting dogs of all time but to breed them for that (morality and legality aside) would be a departure from their original purpose and also pretty pointless...selective breeding for that would end up with you breeding Pit Bull type Bull and Terriers,

I'm not sure what you mean by 'the big task it was bred for'. That's not me being provocative, it's just that there are more than one theory as to what they were bred for and I'm not sure what you believe. I know what this line were bred for and that's general purpose workers. For various reasons I only use him on Rabbits.

I will try to get some done this weekend. I took him out last night and I didn't see what he did he got pretty banged up so I might be a bit scabby in the photos.

Cheers mate, I'm very pleased with him and he does whatever I ask of him. He also pisses off the show brigade no end which gives me great pleasure

You really should speak to the owners of Ingles Bull Terriers before saying that there are no working lines out there. This is my boy at 14 months...22.5" tts and 58lbs in the pic, 21 months now and 62lbs...as good a worker as you could ever hope for.

could my whippet crossed with a staffy go lamping

He/she's quite podgy so you really need to get some weight off it and get it into proper condition before you can expect it to catch anything but it should catch when fit. I know of pure bred English Bull Terriers of a heavier build than your dog that catch so there's no reason why not. -

Me too, I haven't got a clue what this thread is about. -
Depends what you want to add. It also depends on the quality of the stud. There are good, bad and mediocre in all breeds.

The whole point of a treadmill is that it's not a substitute for anything, it's additional. When used correctly they are a great tool.

I've got no idea why people think Bull Terriers lack stamina. There are very few dogs breeds that can compete with them for stamina, stamina was in their job description. They might lack wind because of their muscle mass but that's different from stamina. -
They can if it's neutered.

why would [NO TEXT TALK] feel the need to broadcast this on an open forum ffs people Because it makes him look like a proper hard man who doesn't do all this airy fairy stuff like these modern pansy hunters. Sometimes I think people are more interested in their reputation than they are in hunting.
-
Nothing wrong with keeping a failed dog as a pet, if you don't want it just make sure it's neutered and pass it on to a pet home if you can. The country's over run with dogs but if it could make a good pet then give it a chance, don't see any issue with that.

You can start walking her about two weeks after her last jab if I remember correctly. that should be at about 12-13 weeks.

It's perfectly normal for a pup. I just give them a tap on the nose accompanied by a loud NO! then ignore them. That normally works quite well, it might take a little time but she will stop. She will grow out of it anyway given time but it's annoying, especially as their teeth are so sharp at that age.

Take it to the vets.

Funny you should mention this, this happened yesterday. Two baby sisters are seriously ill in hospital after an apparent fox attack at their home. Police said the nine-month-old twins were in a "serious but stable" condition after being hurt while sleeping in their cots on Saturday night. Officers and paramedics were called to a house in Stoke Newington, north London, to reports that the animal had attacked the pair. The little girls are being treated at the Royal London Hospital. They both reportedly suffered arm wounds and one of the girls was believed to have fa

It's a really good job but I think it would freak me out if it was in my house.
