  1. You can't go wrong with the book COL for a start point. From memory I think the 40grn Sierra Blitzking for RL7 is 2.125" but I will have to confirm this when I get home. What dies are you using? edit: Yep 2.125" COAL for 40 grn BK
  2. You could've found out with a cleaning rod in the time it took you to post this thread
  3. Hatsan Escort 3" S/A with 28" barrel In good nick, barrel is not pitted etc. There are some external signs of use but nothing bad. Cleaned after every outing even if only one cart fired. Multi choke with: Full Modified Improved Modified Improved Cylinder Cylinder Skeet Choke key Owner's manual, Warranty card and spare o-rings. Cycles faultlessly with 30gr 6's. I'm just not using it SOLD
  4. Yep, go for the 3-12x56. Meopta are good scopes
  5. I'm going to follow the trend of NOT showing where I do my reloading. When not in use it is where Mrs Trackpad opens the garage door and chucks her s**t into the garage. I have to clean it up before every use...bloody wimmin
  6. Triple Deuce :thumbs-up: I am interested in your reloading of your .222.Am i right in saying you use 22 grains of reloder 7 and 40 grain blitzkings .Is this set up okay for foxes and if so up to what range .Thanks . It definately works for me but I worked up to it using the manual and observing for pressure signs etc. Depends on what rifle you are using of course. Always start at min load and work up your load. I zero 1" high at 100 Yds whick is point and click out to 200 yds and then starts to drop off to -3.5" by 250. Good for fox out to this distance if you know your
  7. Tails are pretty easy to get off. Cut round the base of the tail, just going through the skin and all the way round. Next use two sticks (I use my shooting sticks) and put them one either side of the cut and squeeze them together, put your foot on the fox and pull the sticks. The tail will slide off nice and easy, leaving the bone etc on the body. As for curing, I never perfected that, I just stuff em full of salt and leave for a few months, wonder WTF I brought it home for, threaten the kisd with a new attachment for their hats, and then chuck it
  8. Most people seem to settle on Hornady V-Max or Remmies. Best thing to do is either find a friend who will let you shoot some of theirs or get a box of each before buting a load. Where are you, I have some you could try if you are near to me.
  9. The grenades group ok and I'm confident with them out to 200 yds but expansion is a bit pump, nothing like they are cracked up to be. I'm just using the last ones up now, on stuff like this and bunnies on my way home from foxing. I developed a load with the same POI as my 40 grn Blitzkings so can interchange . I won't be getting any more VG's. 40grn Blitzkings are grouping at .34" (100 yds) and pushing 3400fps over 22grn RL7 which is great.
  10. I decided to go out this afternoon and shoot some load development rounds through my new Chrony. Anyway to cut a long story short, I'd been blatting away for a good couple of hours when I packed up my kit and made my way to the gate. As I was negotiating the knot of bailing twine holding the gate shut I looked back at where my target was and there was a Rook inspecting my backstop. These Rooks ravage the field next door when the cerials are in, and I have been asked to shoot them on sight by the land owner as they aren't too bothered by the gas gun or scarers he puts out. So, I knew it was
  11. Just dropped my card off with a bloke after hearing of similar numbers on his land. Guess what...'we like to see em around'. This is a 10 acre wood . I'll need to talk him into letting me do a proper census and explain the reasons for managing his deer to win him round I think.
  12. Very nice. What would you consider a 'heavy' population John?
  13. Begrudgingly up for sale is my Meopta Meostar R1 3-12x56. The scope is not quite 12m old and is in fine fettle. It has the very functional 4B range finding reticle which is in the first focal plain and comes boxed as if from the shop. Excellent glass which I believe is of Zeiss origin and compares favourably with my S&B. 30mm tube. I am only selling as I am going down the fixed mag route for my foxing rig. The scope currently sits atop my triple two and I have successfully lamped bunnies at >100yds with it. The reticle is ideal for deer stalking but is very useful for ra
  14. No deer moving in the wind or you didn't leave the house?? No deer
  15. Ah well, better luck next time. Gale force wind stopped play
  16. As luck would have it, when I was out earlier I was told of a load of foxes at the far reaches of one of my permissions so...
  17. Which therefore has no relevance on what we are debating here. Yet with deer this would appear to be the other way round.
