  1. I zero mine at 60 yds and the drop at 100 is 2 mildots with my Hawke V2 at x12 mag. 3/4" is good for 95 yds well done.
  2. ...or other land provided that you have checked that it's cleared by the local FLO for the calibre you intend to use first. Do you need to inform Firearms Dept if you shoot on another permission? (assuming its passed calibre) And also do you need to send written permission? (As when applying) If your cert allows you to shoot on any piece of land then that is what you can do. As long as you have permission to shoot on the land you do not need to inform the cops of anything and there is no requirement for the land to be "passed" by the cops for using a particular calibre on.
  3. fair enough i think i like your plan!! i will give him a call see what he says. If i was to put down .243 and it not be granted would the whole application be turned down or just that Cal. at the mo on my permission the only dear that can be found is muntjac but have a friend that has offered some big game when i get sorted. I am looking to go on the Dear society course's this year and next. When you application goes in you will have an interview with the FEO, this is where you discuss what you have applied for and articulate your reasons for the various calibres. If the F
  4. You wash your kit? Honestly tho, I always just run mine through the machine with water only, gets the muck off without smelling like a tart's handbag. Let's face it you're only going to be sat in a field smelling yourself
  5. Depends what land he has. Might be a field full of rabbits not right for the .22lr and not passed for CF. Until I sold mine to get a .222 it got more use than the lr, and it never suffered from being too light, or anything else
  6. 7mm minimum for pigs and you need Boar specified on your license. No courses needed but pigs are feckin dangerous so get an experienced person to take you out if you can. Not sure about the lamping.
  7. That post shows maturity! Or is it experience
  8. Mr Farmer phoned me the other day asking to lay off the rabbits for a while to let the mixie take hold. Anyway to make up for it he's given me a shed load of pigeon shooting. My only experience of this is rough shooting and popping them as I wander about so need a bit of advice on hide technque. I'll be using my Hatsan semi. So here we go with my bone questions... 1. Best choke? 2. Seat in the hide? 3. Hide built around me or over the top too? 4. U/V shaped pattern with the wind behind me so they fly at me when landing? 5. How long is too long before giving up and moving fields? 6.
  9. That was my first thought. Mine is 16" but I'm thinking of going down to 14" when I get round to it. I used to have an old BRNO mod 2 that length and it was awsome, wish I still had it. Get it chopped, you won't regret it honest
  10. As said already, the .22 rimmy is the rabbitting workhorse and should be a standard on any FAC application. Don't rule out the .17HMR, it has its uses so I would recommend asking for both from the outset. If you think you can get .223 on you first application (no reason why not) then don't bother with Hornet (my opinion lads don't get upset). Really it's about what you need not what you want/can get. There is a tool for every occasion so work out what you want your rifles to do for you and then look at what fits the bill. Range, noise, cost, reload, expeience etc, all thing to take int
  11. That sounds cool. It would be interesting if everyone holding an FAC in Leics turned up
  12. +1 for 6.5x55, you know it makes sense.
  13. Ahh, very little work involved, just how I like it . Does the brain come out ok?
  14. Yep I have a nice cleaned 3 pointer regular on my patch in N.Yorks
  15. I'm not sure of the actual drying time but if you have it in the garage or shed it will take quite a long time to fully cure due to the cold. Keep it in the house but not next to a radiator.
  16. Ah but Mythbusters failed to get one to go off by using it as a car fuse so it can't happen, it's official! I ain't no expert is these matters... mythbusters or no mythbusters .....it was a fecking loud bang and it was very real indeed! Sorry that was my attempt at satire

  18. The man is a woman (not like that ) and foxy too, I shall woo her with my animal charms and probably come away with nothing
  19. Well done mate, I went round 10 farms this weekend and came away with 1 possible. Ah well, there's always next time
  20. Steer clear of the jags that look like a rasp, as Jamie says get the speer (bench rest) type.
  21. Woke up early this morning and saw the sunshine so I thought I'd take the Rimmy for a wander over one of my permissions. I go there about 0800 and the frost was still sharp on the ground but the sun was blazing on the back of my neck, lovely, anyway, a quick wander about revealed absolutely no rabbits above ground. I noticed movement in the next door farm's field so popped across for a look and saw 3 hares playing about so I thought I'd sit and watch for a bit to see waht happened. It turned out that I wasn't the only one there watching, in the corner of the field were 4 Roe calmly browsing
