  1. Think you've hit the nail on the head there. There are a few lads that come over foxing that have caused a bit of bother. This guy is a bit mental though and I could barely understand what he was saying. Cheers ATB
  2. I very nearly did. I rather he threatened me than the bloody dog. I guarantee he knows there's more than one ROW through there, just doesn't want others to know. Thanks
  3. Had the lurcher out earlier walking along a local right of way. She was off the lead, but walking alongside as there wasn't much about in the field. The farmer came straight over to me and said he would f**cking shoot the dog. I love people telling me this, but managed to hold my temper and asked why. I was told that it was a lurcher and I had no right to let it off the lead. He had some bullocks in the next field and that was it. I was doing no harm. Get the feeling that if it were a lab or something else, he wouldn't have had a problem. It gets better, I asked him about the rights of wa
  4. Fair play to the hobs, they must know when they're on to a good thing. I once did the same thing and one of my jills escaped. Had an idea where she'd be as there are chickens next door. I looked over and could see next door's jack russel / Chihuahua cross going mental digging around the shed. I climbed the fence, ran over, sent the dog packing and gave a little squeak. Out she popped and I managed to grab her. Could have been a costly mistake and she's a good un.
  5. Personally - I'd take it slowly. I wouldn't want to put too much stress on a dog's frame when it's not fully developed.
  6. lmao so theres god points and bad points with feeding egg lol Mmm, eggy farts... Feed them raw, problem solved! Noted.
  7. Took my bitch out in the car the other day after giving her some left over eggs. Window down and wretching all the way! I stopped at one point to see if she'd actually shit!
  8. I'd have thought it'll have a pretty smooth coat.
  9. Two ways I used to check they were dead: Look at the way the head is hanging. If it is not hanging loose, the neck is not broken and check the eye reflex with your finger. I stretch mine, but the other boys are right about it being difficult in the purse nets and I have ripped a few in the process.
  10. A friend of a friend brought his three year old rescue hound out one day, said he thought it was coming on well and would make a rabbit dog. When he let it off the lead it just ran up and down the field until it was knackered. You'd have needed the patience of a saint to get that dog to work properly.
  11. I don't reckon it's as good but better than nothing. My mate and I had 10 between seven and nine last week.
  12. My next door neighbour's three year old whippet / bull bitch had a similar lump removed a year ago and is doing very well. It'll work out mate. ATB.
  13. Gave some good advie on diet. Thanks.

  14. Do a search for a thread called 'two bob bits' . Should be some useful stuff in that.
  15. Dogs can mature more slowly than bitches. I've got my bitch out watching lamping and ferreting at 7 months (some would probably say this was too early). She's definitely got the idea and it can be hard to hold her back. She can be a pain in the arse if the sport is coming thick and fast as well. The previous poster seems to have the concensus on here about right. There are loads of posts and differing opinions on the lurcher and running dogs forum. Do a search.
  16. yes mate 3/4 grey 1/4 whippet Cheers. ATB with the pup on the new permission.
  17. Looks a lot like my 7 month old pup. She's a whippet x collie / grey / whippet and not as muscular as your older pup. How is the pup bred? Whippet x grey? Looks like she's thrown to the whippet. Nice one.
  18. hi, his dog is a really nice steady bitch i went out for a look at her run hence the pics, you can see her lack of xperiance lol i find it highly amusing when the lamp is put on a sitter and she cant see it even though shes right on top of it lol i wouldnt say he pushes her at all she is off the lead all the time and stays right near his side he puts the lamp on and she looks about if she wants to go then she will if she dont he aint bothered as shes young and as he told me you cant expect a young dog to work its socks off when it aint fully developed as you'l end up with a dead dog i think th
  19. Too early to say with mine. Her mother is a very loyal dog (1/4 whippet). Loving the patches on your mate's dog. I'd be happy if mine was taking those numbers in a session before she was 12 months old (provided I wasn't puching her too hard).
  20. Gave my 7 month old a whole mackerel a couple of weeks back and she crapped for Wales for 48 hours. I have since given her a third of a fish and she has no problems. I now watch how much of the really rich stuff I give her at once. I only give her small amounts of liver, kidney and oily fish and she's pretty solid all of the time now.
  21. Nice looking dogs. Here's my laguna whippet x collie/whippet/grey. She's 28 weeks now and 22tts. She's going to turn out bigger than estimated. Happy with her though. Sorry no intentional bunnys yet. Can't wait to start her properly after Christmas.
  22. A few of the more experienced boys on here will give you better advice than me, but I have seen good results achieved using a very long lead or rope (I think there is another thread on this). With my lurcher bitch, I started with treat training and praise but, once she got the idea and decided no to come back, I'd consistantly scruff her and carry her back to where I called her from. I think it took about two weeks before she realised it was easier to come back. The problem with this is that you need a small enclosed area where the dog can't get away or do any damage before you catch up wi
