    The feed requirements of a puppy are different to those of an adult dog, puppy food can be over fortified, vitamins etc and in particularly calcium. too much calcium can cause bone overgrowth problems and as such can in some circumstances lead to hip dysplasia. Have a look on the back of the bag for the recommended age but I would try and move to a good quality premium brand for a junior dog, i use Royal Canin but that is personal choice. i have working feeds in the past but always come back. I don't like muesli foods as i think you get a lot of waste, most seems to pass through the dog. Fee

    My old lab, just inhales her food and has never been sick, she would eat until she burst, as she is now retired, she's on a diet which is about as popular as the LACS at the Game Fair.     Hi Sedgewick, First of all not commenting on the reasons for rehoming this bitch. Secondly I agree with the kids comment, I have kids and at the last count 7 working dogs, in some shape or form, so my dogs don't go cos of the kids. However we have just taken in a labrador from labrador rescue as it is 'too boisterous'. Yes he is boistterous, he is an 8 month old lab with very little training.     All of the above apply but also it seems that bitches know if something is wrong with the pups and will on occassion kill an odd one or reject them and leave them to die.

    All of our dogs are currently in, if we are outside, then they go out in the kennels but at night and when we are out they are in the house. They are too valuable to be left out at the minute. Also i think they work better as they have a better bond, As regards the mess, we have a wet room as you come in and so the dogs are dried or washed if necessary and then to their bed to clean up. and if there's a mess....they're his dogs and he cleans it up.
