  1. I'll always remember years ago when I got my Franchi semi auto and was feeding it on Baikal / Record cartridges. At a local clay club shooting near to dusk the flames coming out when the cartridges eject was very impressive. The lads with their posh O/Us and expensive cartridges werent too impressed though
  2. I have an "open" certificate and when I asked my local force for fox with a 308 , I was told it wouldn't happen as it was too much. So they told me to put in a variation for a .243 and a .22lr. Put paperwork in and had it back in 2 days fully authorised. Was surprised they told me 308 was too much , asit was a perfect alrounder when I used it in Germany.
  3. Welcome to the site, check regularly as there are sometimes last minute opportunities to go out.
  4. I really need to check the site more regularly, another opportunity possibly missed. Good offer though , I hope you had some takers!!!
  5. Hello, Text sent , hopefully you got it. If not let me know and i'll ring you.
  6. I got one when I bought my X-bolt from Swillington. Not quite as quiet as my Wildcat, but the difference is hardly noticable. Size is quite a bit smaller so in my opinion works out better. No complaints whatsoever. Also got a third eye one piece weaver mount for the rifle as well. Build quality on both is excellent.
  7. For what its worth, they were only bought february last year while I was serving in Germany, cost nearly 10 euros a box over there. For a 36 gram cartridge from a reputable company I hardly think £5.75 is top money. If I get no takers i'll keep them and they will get used eventually!!!!
  8. Just checked the boxes, they are by Rottweil and labeled Special 36. Too long a time spent in Germany. I think RWS /Geco now own Rottweil anyway.
  9. I have some boxes of the above cartridges for sale. 36 grams of number 7 lead shot. Good pigeon cartridge, however I don't really get the time to go out myself lately. Looking for £5.75 per box of 25. Pick-up only from South East Northumberland. Usual Certificate / legal requirements apply.
  10. Blade1of1, please explain!!! its been a long day

  12. I used S&B in 308 whilst hunting in Germany. Got a great deal from Frankonia,180gn Barnes solid copper bullets. Should have been 54 euros for 20, reduced to 19, so I bought 300. Accurate and hard hitting ,used well for roe and Boar. Cannot fault S&B for the price.
  13. Thanks for the responses, as said already opinion varies so it's down to the individual. I think i'll now do a full resize initially, then neck size. Again thanks for all the opinions.
  14. Found a website over the water , and most of the yanks reckon all they do is neck size their cases to ensure roundness. I think i'll go for this option as it'll save stressing the cases unnecessarily by full sizing. Cheers for the replys
  15. It may seem like a stupid question to most, but I had a quick look round the site and couldn't get the answer. I'm just about to start reloading rifle cases after previously doing just .357mag which were factory loaded to start with. So my question is, if I get new unprimed cases, are they already correctly sized? As in the future I intend to just necksize them as they will all be fired from the same rifle. Thanks for any help
  16. I understand there's loads of people looking for shooting, but if you don't ask you don't get!! Not long out of the army after 22 years, spent last 6 years in Germany where I did my German hunting licence quals. In that time I was lucky to get to shoot roe , fallow , red deer, wild boar( most exciting) as well as the smaller game.(pigeons, crows rabbit etc are all classed as game over there). Moved back to Northumberland, however being away for so long things have changed here,so i'm finding it tough getting some shooting. Had SGC for nearly 30 yrs, FAC for 15, open license for verm
  17. Cheers for the help/ advice. spoke to shop earlier today and they've already been onto the ammo company and also Browning to see about getting a new bolt. They said they were speaking to browning to see if it was a straight swap for the bolts , or if they need headspacing. I searched the www and couldn't find out myself.I'd have thought if they weren't interchangeable then the bolt would be serialised which it isn't. Will give them a few more days then i'll speak to them again. again many thanks
  18. Got in touch with shop today. Sent them photos of both bolt face and empty case. They are going to get in touch with Browning and ammo company to let them fight it out. Hopefully all will be well.
  19. I bought a Browning x-bolt in 243 from a reputable UK company , at the same time I also bought some ammo from them. After i'd fired about 25 shots over the last 5 months, I check zeroed the rifle on my last outing. On returning home I started cleaning the rifle when I saw a black ring on the bolt face. I cleaned this off to find a spot on the bolt face which had been eroded causing a pit about 1mm in diameter and about .5mm deep. Rummaging through the empty cases I found one that had a black stained base with a hole between the primer and the case. The ammunition was new,not reloaded and came
  20. I know it's probably not neccessary, but about 25 years ago when my Dad bought a Spanish .410 S/S folder in 3 inch, when I checked the pressures with the cartridges, the 3" magnum cartridges were a lot higher than what the gun was rated for. I don't know how this happened with proofing. It wasn't much more , but that is what safety limits are for.
  21. has not set their status

  22. Hi November, that was a cracking account of your first Schwartzwild. Where abouts in Germany do you have your revier? I used to hunt in Sennelager, a little place called Ovenhausen a few miles South of Paderborn and in Bergen Hohne (Jagdrevier Meissental). I got my jagdschein in 1996 and left Germany in 2000. Harry Mac did you shoot on Antons land in Ovenhausen? I shot a large beast there last winter, before going to Iraq. waiting to go back there for the bucks during the rut.
  23. I was wondering is there a place on the site/net, where I can download / save the video series on youtube which covers the skinning and butchery of a roe deer. I think its in 3 or 4 parts. It would be easier to have it to hand on my computer rather than having to go through youtube every time. I had a quick look on tihs site but couldn't find anything. I'm working on a military computer so sites are limited. Your help in advance is appreciated. many thanks
  24. Hi everyone, just found this site via youtube. Been a keen shooter for 25 years but let it go for a while due to my job with the British Army. A couple of years ago whilst serving in Germany , got my German hunting license (Jagdschein) and got back into it in a big way.Since then i've had the priveledge to shoot roe bucks, wild boar and all the usual small game. The thing is in Germany everything from a rabbit and pigeon is classed as game and you need to be licensed to shoot it. The tradition associated with game shooting is totally different to the UK, there seems to be more cameraderie and
