  5. Hi Tom What price are you looking for on the RTV 900? How many hours has it run? Thanks Steve Hi Steve, Honest answer would be as much as possible! but living in the real world, it's worth as much as someone wants to pay me for it. It's a 2007 model, with a cab, and has done 850 hrs, fully serviced via main dealer, needs rear tyres ! Cheers, Tom
  6. Hi, I ran a 98 terrano (nissan - variant of the maverick) commercial for three years, from my experience it was a good work horse, a little thirsty on the diesel front, but reliable, and when I had finished with it, I had covered over 70,000 miles in the three years. The other thing I would add, is that it did tend to wear tyres out fairly quickly. But all in all, it proved to be an honest, reliable work horse. I hope this helps !?! Cheers, Tom

  9. Hi, Please excuse the random post! I am organising my friends stag do, we had planned to go deep sea fishing in Bournemouth on the 9th May, as part of the stag weekend, I have just had a phone call from the skipper's wife, informing me the boat is going to be out of action and they have canceled the booking Which leaves me with a big problem ! I have tried to search the web, but can not find an alternative, so a bit of a wild shot, does anyone know of a firm/person that I could get in touch with !?! any help would be very much appreciated.. Cheers, Tom
  10. Hi, After doing a bit more digging, land values in England dropped by 2.6% to year end 2008 to £4673/acre, according to Knight Franks - farmlands price index. But thats still 1% higher than 12 months ago. Cheers, Tom
  11. Hi, Land tends to vary in grade type and location, we have just purchased an additional 400 acres of arable land and we paid £5871 per acre at the end of 2008, land in Scotland is typicaly cheaper, so even if the land was in a less favoured area, it should still fetch around £4000.00 per acre, even in the current climate. I hope this helps !?! Cheers, Tom

    Farriery

Hi, I have a friend who is doing exactly what your thinking of doing, he was a HGV lorry driver, and last march he decided to become a farrier, the dip is a 4.5 year course, he is a year into it, and is yet to 'shoe' a horse, he is still 'clenching' up with a qualified farrier, and earning £120.00 p/w ! But he is still 100% sure he made the right decision, if you can take a knock on your earnings for a few years the rewards are huge, particulary around us here, and there are plenty of farriers who are looking to take on new apprentices, of all ages, the last apprentice they took on w
