  1. Must get my eyes tested! I read this part of your post: "Rabbits display a more gentle nature when it comes to courtship. Sometimes the buck and the doe will sit licking each others forehead, ears and neck in a relaxed calm manner. Or they will play together in a game of chase, like a nuptial dance running round in small circles. Mating mainly happens at night when disturbance from predators and other rabbits are less." 2. If you go out without your gun, they'll be all over the place! Landing at your feet, waddling around taunting you. But show a gun and they're off. Very clever these pigeons. I swear they can tell if I have 2" .410 bunny shot or 12 bore. Not much in the way of advice I'm afraid but sympathy for a shared frustration. Bob G
  3. Super pics - what camera and lens are you using? Bob G
  4. Perhaps there is a problem with the iginition inhibitor? This might explain why the tablets are decomposing or igniting prematurely. Bob G
  5. I think it depends on the club. Most clubs have "guest" days when non-shooters can shoot. Yes, most if not all have a "probationary" period but in my experience that's when they look not so much at your shooting but whether you are the type of person they want to spend time with. Call it a right of passage. Bob G
  6. Thanks for that - and the link. Very useful. I might give it a go. I'm fed up with the magpies and crows on our estate. Regards Bob G
  7. Fair point - well argued! Will .17HMR ammunition reach the ft/lb for small deer? There has to be a limit. How much "ballistics" can be fitted into such a small bullet? Bob G
  8. I'm not intending to set up as a pest controller but I am intrigued by the "target the business that rely on banks". Why is that? Bob G
  9. Sorry - I meant to ask (and please don't slag me off for this!!!!) How do you get the first magpie? I have never used a Larsen trap. Bob G
  10. Tops - good clip. I've downloaded it to use Bob G
  11. 17HMR - the rifle of the future! You've made a good choice. Traditionalists would disagree (and I'm one of them) but the versatility of the 17HMR is becoming more and more obvious. With new developments in ammunition I wouldn't be surprised to see it "legal" for Muntjac or even Roe in the not too distance future. Bob G
  12. Gamekeeper and poacher?
  13. Get some 2X4 and you'll soon work out how much you have to tear off. Bob G
  14. They can try that with me if they want. Need full NBC gear though...... NBC gear or not - if any items of clothing need to be removed they have to take you to a place specified for the purpose with an officer of the "appropriate" gender present. Usually a police station or the back or a "black maria" or whatever they call them these days. Bob G
  15. To be honest - I don't really know. Because it's not permanent 4X4, the mpg is better than you might think. 40mpg? Must be about that. Bob G
  16. Or if you have a local field study centre, see if they run a one day course with an expert. It won't cost too much and might save gippy tummy or a trip to A&E. I've tried learning it from books and  ....... As for chicken of the woods - it does grow on many different trees but: ".....causes mild reactions in some, for example, swollen lips" or in rare cases " nausea, vomiting, dizziness and disorientation." This is believed to be due to a number of factors that range from very bad allergies to the mushroom's protein, to toxins absorbed by the mushroom from the wood it grow
  17. I blame the "Colonel" - Kentucky Fried Chicken. "It's got an addictive chemical that makes you crave it fortnightly"
  18. Cause - we'll all look silly if we start dying like flies - but I don't think so. Mind you talk about double speak - there are drugs to combat Pig Flu but - according to the "advice" - on no account should you go to your doctor!!!!!
  19. I like the ASE utra moderator - good reviews - and excellent value for the money (£60 ish). Bit fiddly to put back together. Bob G
  20. Hello there Don't suppose you have a pic or link to it do you? Bob G
  21. Best Pig Flue gag so far!!!
  22. Morning I have a Freelander - it's great. Gets nearly everywhere on our estate. Not so wide as the other Land Rovers so easier to get along woodland tracks. Good over most terrain. I'd get another one! Bob G
  23. Don't know what a badger set smells like but a foxes den can really stink. Just like the smell from your dogs when they've had a good roll in something you'd rather they hadn't. Bob G
