Have you had mixy or something up there,we shot a couple black ones back in april on my mates shoot looked od as the truck was full of normal bunnies and the black one's stood out from the rest.

Sounds like a great scope ive got the 2.5-10x56 s+b on my Remmy 223, only problem i have is the cross gets bigger when i zoom in and if i was to try and shoot a small target say a rabbit at 150yards id lose it behind the cross, Apart from that its very good.

Thats great news good things come to those who wait normally, sounded like a nice fao.

Thats a great help thanks everyone im going to think alot about it and phone around a couple gunshops and see what they think and a quote, Anybody had this sort of work done in cornwall or know of a good gunsmith for this job?.

Yes the barrel is 24" and then ive got the mod on the end. As all my other guns are carbine/short barrel this one feels like im walking around with a spear, will cutting it not effect the bullet spin and twist rate and zero. Its a Remington sps 24" barrel not heavy type in 223 and ive got a Timney trigger on it and a Pes moderator. Also any ideas on prices for getting it done.

How easy is it to change your barrel on a Remmington 223 rifle or is it easier to get a different gun just curious because i would like a shorter barrel say no more than 20" long and what would i have to say to the fac department. Any advice welcome.

Deker just wondering how you have 4 rimfires on your ticket, it looks like you have 2-22rf and 2- 17hmr's did you have one of each for vermin and one of each for target shooting, just curious am i right in thinking they are all CZ guns, and what scopes are on them.

Nice rifle there it looks solid and nice wood on it to what barrel length is it, happy shooting.

Sounds like me when i first got my 22 RF it was such a step up from the airgun and you soon get your confidence with the rifle, you should get on fine with the winchesters in your gun my CZ American loves them although not all gun barrels are the same and some can be not so good. Just be careful with the extra power you will get alot more richochets even after hitting your targets so try and keep your backstops safe, have fun.

Sorry if this has been asked before but ive looked back through the last eight pages and cant find the answer or on my ticket, Am i allowed to take my nephew decoying on ground i have permission to shoot and let him have a go on the gun weather it be at a few targets or crows/Rooks he is a very sensible 15year old and often does the lamp for me in winter time when shooting rabbits. He will be sat in the hide with me as im hoping to go out on friday.

Looks like some of you have had some close encounters to with the old badgers i must admit my heart was in my mouth for a bit, Also me and the wife got charged at last summer by one it was a big bugga to we were walking the dogs along a coastal path and it jumped down onto the track we were walking along then spotted the dogs infront of us and then he came at us pretty quick so i pulled the dogs and wife out the way and jumped up front waving my arms shouting then it stopped and bolted into the undergrowth. I was worried for a bit to wish i had a big stick for back up.

I was out shooting with the 17Hmr last night and got to one of my favourite valley's for a bunny stakeout got there about 8ish shot 4 in the first half hour then went still for about 20mins i left all rabbits were i shot them until the pick up later. When a couples fox cubs caught my eye at the top of the skyline no intention of shooting them i watched them chase and play then they went and now the light was starting to change i looked back up the hill to see 2 badgers out mooching then 2 more rabbits came out so i shot one and to my suprise the badgers stayed out the shots seemed fairly loud t

No problem glad i could help as im fairly new to the 17Hmr and its ability as ive always used a 22Rf and other rifles. Also i wasnt having a dig about if you was safe shooting or not im sure you are a safe shot else you would'nt of put a post on here.

Does anyone know if you can get a 10 shot mag for the 1517 Hmr from Anschutz as the mag i have is only a 4 shot and i can get through them very quick sometimes (shots that is) or is there a after market mag i could get?.
-
Yes they can and do rebound but not that often if you hit your targets right, Im not saying you are not but if you go for a head shot the bullet should break up quicker reducing a richochet are you using ballistic tips? also is it a bush hedge as i cant see how the shots would go through a hedge or do they mean over the top of there house and hedge. They could also be getting the noise mixed up say from the supersonic crack echoing off the tree's or buildings.Ive fired about 200 shots at various targets e.g. wood-stone-metal and found most of my richochets which was only 3 were from the metal

Nice guns i nearly got one but never because of the silver barrel and they never made a carbine at the time lots of good reports around on them and on youtube clips, I went for the Anschutz 1517 Hmr with a thumbhole stock and a very limited 14" barrel very good and shoots very well.

Winchester super x hollow points work best for me in my CZ452 16" barrel tried remmy's hollow point not impressed tried cci not sure which type mate gave them to me on lamping trip as i ran out of ammo and were ok not great, but every gun barrel and shooter has there own favourite type so im sticking with super x winchester until i cant get them anymore.
-
Whats wrong with it i thought they were ment to be good scopes or is it just not what you wanted.
-
Ive had the same problem i looked on there about 2 weeks ago and it was like it then, you seem to be able to look at all there lines apart from scopes.?
-
Try RWS Zlang they are good in my CZ with a 16" barrel they are good to about 40yrd i got some for shooting squirrels around pheasant pens and feed bins as they would sit there feeding out the bins in amongst the pheasants and a normal subsonic bullet would pass clean through and damage the feeder or it could even kill or wound a poult ,the Zlang is about 30ftlb and 29grn and ive even shot them out of trees with this bullet and it never exited the squirrel but that was only with a safe backstop. They are the most silent bullet ive heard from a rimfire they are a round nose shape and a bit short

Ok thanks for the replies once again ive learned something new to me about scopes .So now i will be looking for a Bushnell or Zeiss with the crosshairs in the 2nd focal plain for the 17Hmr thanks again for all the help and advice.
