Just curious but have you not tried shooting them or is it so you can work your dogs, As i live close to these areas if you wanted to have a go with guns and maybe lamping.
-
Have you tried Hawke or Nikko sterling they both have a few types which will fit in your price bracket, you could state what type of shooting you want it for e.g. target and paper punching or hft or vermin shooting hope this helps.

I had this problem about a month ago with Hornady 17grn blue tips i got a batch of 500 in january and all was good with the 1st 200 then noticed some misses and strange sounding shots not many to start with then it got worse and on one little practice session i had 5 duff noise rounds so i checked the empties and they were split open so i opened and checked the other boxes when i got home and found 32 with split necks down to the shoulders and this was before shooting them so i got them all together and took the to my local gunshop and showed him he was suprised and exchanged them for a new bo

I shot 2 in the same field like this , the bottom teeth were so long they finished on top of the rabbits nose, both big rabbits but not much meat on them. Also both shot in the middle of the day.

Ok i will try a different cleaning fluid and see if this helps, and then i'l make a trip to the local gunsmith if i get no joy with the cleaning. Thanks once again to all that have replied.

Thanks for the replies i forgot to say this is with factory loads which ive been using for ages and i even tried some other makes now and still the same result. ive also noticed small outward dents around the neck/shoulder of the cases and a scratch mark on the case.

ive recently got a problem with my remmy 700 .223 now i clean the gun barrel and chamber regular my problem is i went out the other day to have a bit of target fun with it i noticed after about 4 shots i was having trouble with the bolt pulling back and releasing the empty cases, so i went back to my car and cleaned the chamber and barrel and set off again to have ago and would you believe it 1st shot and its stuck again, now i was really pulling on the bolt with no joy so i kept cocking the bolt and shooting it with the empty case inside until it came out this went on for about 3 more shots u

Once again thanks for all the good replies, Can i just state im not saying the S+B are no good and yes my one is the 2.5-10x56 klassic german type its just when i zoom up i loose smaller vermin behind the cross hairs as they get very thick and it makes it hard to shoot past 150yrds and ive always got on better with 2nd focal plane scopes. I just needed more experience on scopes at the time a lesson i have to live with thats why im being very careful this time round.

Thanks for the replies sounds like the nightforce are good are they 2nd image reticle though, Also i dont mind the side focus/ parallex as i have one on my 17hmr, Also ive not heard of ior but thanks again i will give them a look and see.

In my eyes all of these scopes are good but i would like to know who has what and how good these scopes really are, Im going to use it for lamping foxes and longer range vermin on my 223 the scope must have a 2nd image reticle as this is how i made my last mistake with my s+b scope.Im also wanting it to be very good in low light evening conditions and a good zoom range and warranty as my limit will be £1500 and im hoping this will be my last scope for this gun.The scopes are Zeiss Victory diavari 3-12x56 . Leupold VX-3L long range 4.5-14x56 . Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x56 . Swarovski Z6 2.5-15x56 p

I think it will i have the whisper on my Anschutz 1517 which i was told has a heavy barrel even though its only a 14" barrel it fits nice and on my gun the Sak was louder to me when i shot the gun than the wildcat and when someone else shot my gun its hard to say as the bang/ crack seems different, also think about the length it adds to your barrel as i wanted to keep mine as short as i could and the Sak adds about 5" and the whisper slides back over your barrel, hope this helps.

Very good test there im a big fan of the winchester super x hollow points subsonic, Just curious what barrel length you have on that gun ive got a CZ 452 American with a 16" barrel and done some testing back in april but only with the subsonics got onto a A4 sheet of paper at 200 yards but the slightest breeze and it moved alot as i was shooting over a valley. Also what mag are you shooting on as most of my shooting is done on 4.5 x 50mm and i go upto 6 x if its past 60yards.Once again good read up.

Well mine took eight days for my renewal to come through after seeing the feo and my variation back in september took six weeks and when i asked the feo on the 29th march he said the average wait time was about 6-8 weeks, but it might be a little longer as he is about to retire and a new person was taking over.

Not seen any cubs yet but saw a vixen and watched her for a while through the scope the other evening and i could see all her milk teets had been well used when she was rolling on her side and sat down having a scratch. I never shot it before anyone asks as this farmer wants the foxes around as he only has arable on his farm and no livestock.

I had a similar problem before xmas my mod broke on my 223.So when i was getting some barrel work done and wanted to buy a new moderator at the gunshop they said you are meant to re apply and explain to the fac hq. So i gave them a call and yes you have to put in for a variation and explain in writing what you want to do i also stated my present moderator was broken and they were ok about it and now its all done and fixed. But it could be different on a rimfire just give your local office a call if your not sure.

I have both like alot of shooters they are both very good for example there is one place i shoot rabbits which is about 9 acres and on both sides of the boundary are horses and they dont seem to like the noise of the 17hmr so i just use the 22 which is great as nearly no noise and it dont upset the neighbours, then down the road i use them both as alot of the fields are hard to stalk so i will sit and wait and easily get long range shots with the 17hmr then use the 22 for lamping again it helps keep noise down also giving the option of more shots at night.

Nice scope is it a nikko sterling or a bsa or other and what mag is it, as i stated earlier nice set up and i did see the funny side of your picture just didnt think it would be liked by some viewers but each to there own.
-
Nice gun and scope but as said above the pic would look better with rabbits under the gun looks like 2 does at a guess.

Can anyone help me i need to get a chamber brush for my Remington 700 in 223, it needs to be the bristle brush type ive looked on the net and found a company called midway uk but they are out of stock and whats best a screw on to a rod type or can you get a pull through type its for me and my shooting mate as we both have the same guns, hope someone can help thanks.

My shooting buddy has the Archer for his 223 and uses a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x50 lr with varmint cross which is good but when he puts the Archer on his 17hmr its better as he has a MTC Viper 6-24x56 scope both scopes have side focus so it must be down to the 56mm objective lense i guess but both work well.

I have the remmy 700sps in 223 had the barrel shortened and have a pes mod and its great my 1st one was s/steel colour and now ive got a new black version which is about a inch shorter and just as quiet.

I had a few cases like this with D+C area. A normal variation time i was told just before xmas is a wait of upto 8 weeks, But the first time they made a mistake on my ticket i sent it back and they got it back to me within 3 weeks the second time they made a mistake it took 9 weeks, Just lucky i had recently got some ammo so i could still go out shooting.
