Just think how flat the 177 will flight at thous velocities. I wounder if the barrel will suffer damage(wear) because of the zinc pellet and what about ricochet.

: hi lads well as its the easter weekend i thought it would be rude not to have a mooch and im pleased i did it started off late sunday night we'd been up the caravan all weekend and id not had the gun out but sunday night got the better of me .id been watching the bunnys running around all day but as it was in season for the caravaners through the day was a no go with the s510 and by the time night fell the beers had been flowing so shooting ended up a no go as well lol :whistling: but sunday night was our last night and as i was driving home the next morning i didnt have a drin

Forget the semi-auto rimmy and go for a bolt action rifle ,more reliable and accurate. I had a burno farma years ago, pay £125 brand new, it would group remington yellow jacket 1 inch at 100 yards. I could easierly shoot rabbits 125-130 yards with it. The only downside with a lr is ricochets. If you can't get within yards of a rabbit you are doing something very wrong!!!

The problem is the europe has re classified lead in a more toxic band. So will a ban come into force most like, when, I don't know. Will spineless BASC stand up for the shooting people or will they just look at there own jobs and make a few noises like always.

Has anyone used the new Prometheus Thunder Bolt pellet yet?

17 rem or 22-250 or 233 wssm
slingshot replied to death boy's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Owed and used 17 rem for about 10 years Tikka M55 ,yes there is a few problems like barrel fouling after 15 rounds or so expensive round to purchase and sometime difficult to get a hold of, only good for 250-300 yards, bullet expansion. On the plus side if zeroed at 200 yards it is only 1/2inch high at 100 yards, very fast lock up time, low recoil and very accurate and drift I didn't find a problem out to 150 yards. Have used a Ruger MK1 22-250 and yes very good for foxes but rabbits no unless you have half an hour to pick up what is left. But very noisey. What about a 22 hornet, cheap to relo -
If it is just one gun you are after ,then 22 hornet is the best bet as long as you are prepared to load your own. A hornet can be downloaded to subsonic for rabbit control or made into a little screamer for the foxes upto a range of about 180 yards. It moderateds very well and cheap to reload. It you can't be bothered to reload the look at 22wmr or 17hmr. If you are going to have multiple guns the 22 LR and 223 or 22-250

As long as the gun is proofed for 3 inch there will be no problem. Use a BoreSnake to clean the barrel , that way you do not have to strip the moderater. 3 inch eley subs are crap, just use the normal 3 inch, there is no difference in noise level and you again an extra 5 yards in range . Avoid full length plastic wad cartridge like winchesters as the wad can get stuck in the baffles and damage them. :headshot::

Its better to used a mp3 player and a cass creek big horn speaker from sportsman gun centre some good tips there. if he won't come to the call then try a different one bud(the downloads on the net are not bad at all,i find them not loud enough with my phone). the very best of luck

My favourite is Express Magnum max game No.1 46gr it pole axes foxes everytime out to 35-40 yards. AAA and SSG will suffer from poor patterns. Stick to BB or No.1 in 3" magnum 40-50gr though full choke will do the job fine. One thing to look for is a cartridge with a crimp end because this will give a better pattern

He should of ask before he bought and he may of save some money and got a better tool for the job Thats helpful, after he has said he already has a Baikal!!

If you had looked around you would have found a hushpower pedretti 410 from between £100 to £200 ,far easier to shoot than a 410 with a 9" moderater stuck on the end.

You will have to do your homework if you want to takeout this fox. Find out where he is coming from is the main thing, it may well be using several different runs to get to the chicken run, but it well uses these runs so set some snares (properly and legally) it may take up to a week or so to catch the fox. Or try. If there is no natural hide ask the farmer to put some bales out (to make a hide), allow the fox to becomes acustomised to the new feature and bait the area within shotgun range (no more than 40 yards). Use BB or No.1 3" cartridges. What ever you do do not call him with the usual ca

One rifle will cover your requirements if you are prepare to reload your own, and that the .22 hornet, it can be downloaded to produce a subsonic round or bemade to push a bullet around the 3000fps. It moderates very well and is a easy round to shoot .22 wmr is another option if you did not want to reload but is not very common and ammo maybe difficult to comeby.

:headshot:: :headshot:: Craster area is properly ur best bet in the summer months. Cullernose point to the south for mackeral and coalfish, odd pollack. Dunstanburgh castle to the north for coalie, pollack and the odd salmon. Otherwise head to Eyemouth or St Abb's in southeast scotland

.22 SMK xs79 co2????
slingshot replied to kdcurtis's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Had one sold it because it had to many problems with the seal where u screw the co2 bottle into. Went out and bought the 78 instead and put the TR Robbs conversion in to increase the power output. No good thou in the winter and forget the .177(low power). Eley Wasp work well in mine. -
.22 will take rabbits out to 130 yards without much adjustment as long as the rifle is zero properly. I had a burno farma which would group 1" at 100 yards with remington yellow jackets no need for hmr. If you cannot get within yards of a rabbit give up shooting! The problem with .22 is ricochet. Best method of rabbit control I found was ferreting with a shotgun all year round, because this is the only way to get a the breeding females and reduces the population. Feed ferrets before working them and they are less likely to ly up. Using this method I devastated the rabbit population on a 1000

I made mine out of an old strimmer, cut the shaft off, moved the handle and on/off switch, no need to add anthing to the exhaust as i just put the base of the strimmer in the hole and let it tick over. Try using a mineral base 2 stroke oil it tend to be more smokey. By the way a strimmer smoker tend to be lighter than a chainsaw one and always carry a plug spanner with you incase the plug fouls up. :download:

any of you into mole trapping
slingshot replied to beggsybluestaff's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Not that easy but once you have caught your first one it becomes easier. A big help is the book Molecatcher a guide to traditional molecatching methods by Jeff Nicholls. Gassings is anoption with either phostoxin or talunex but conditons need to be right to get a good kill, training is needed first and a licences needed to purchases the produces. There is a Guild of molecatches which provide training and help but I have forgotten the web address. I hope this will help you. -
Having no knowledge about falconry, I was wondering if anyone has used bird of prey either to cull or scare cormorants. The reason I ask is the fishing club I am in has a problem with these birds on the local river, shooting is not an option as the birds are roosting on a wear in the middle of a built up area.

.22LR supersonic or "stinger"
slingshot replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
There are two types of supersonics ones that run just above the speed of sound and hypo velocity (CCI Stinnger, remington yellow jackets, vipers) They use a little bullet usually 33g and a velocity around 1300fps mark. I had a bruno farmar 22lr and it would group remington yellow jackets ,inch at 100 yards, Best rabbit ever shot was 130 yards with these rounds, how needs HMR :headshot:: -
Are .410 slugs any good for close range fox work. I have heard they will group around the 2" mark at fifty yard and there is little chance of ricochet due to it been a soft lead bullet. Energy levels at the muzzle are similar to a hornet round and the 40 cal bullet really stops a fox in its tracks. Has anyone used them?
