I feed my two hobs rats that i buy frozen as snake food. They get a rat once a week as a treat (when its de-frosted). they only leave the feet and tail. Iv had no problems so far.

Ok chaps i can see this is a sore subject and being new here i dont want to be the fuel of the fire. I respect that 75% will not ferret in the summer and the other 25% do. I have 4 good sized permission lands so if i was to ferret one all year round it would keep that farmer happy and i still have the other 3 lands for the winter ferreting. I have the permission from the farmer for a live gun cert so i really do need to keep him happy. Off subject now but what sort of age can you start using your ferret for rabbiting? Cheers

Do you think that once you had entered your ferret you followed it around with the locator had anything to do with the fact that the rabbits did not bolt? Just a thought. TC Good point! I will stop doing that. being first time out i was worried about loosing the ferret. When i got there a fox was sniffing around so that might of had something to do with it too. Ta

He just done a u turn about 1foot down, i tried some other holes and he done the same!! Thats when i called it a night. lol. Thanks

Im at the farm 2-3 times a week with the gun so im taking about 5-15 rabbits a week. I will try and talk to the owner and explain. As with farm owners its all about how many you kill each day, so he said ferret them out. Iv never done ferreting so i said yeah ok i will. My two hobs came from a guy that used them for ferreting so they are ready trained. I will take your advise and rest them til sep. Thanks

This is my problem, my permission land owner wants me to ferret all year round. I have said that i will shoot them in the summer and ferret them in the winter months but they want me to clear the warrens during summer. so im in a pickle!! I dont like the idea of ferreting in the summer due to the young in the warren, but what can i do. My hob had no blood on him nor did he stay in one spot for any amount fo time so im not sure if he did kill any young. Thanks for your help guys.

Hi all, Went out last night for a quick go on a newish warren with about 10 holes. Im new to ferreting so i covered all the holes with the nets and then sent my hob down (boris), i kept track of him with the locator and he just kept on coming out all the holes around the warren. I could hear that the rabbits were down there because of the thumping below my feet. Show i be using more than one ferret at a time? Boris was down there for about 40mins with not one rabbit bolting. Any help would be great. Daniel.

Hello. I’m new to this site and would like to say hello to all the fellow hunters of these fast fading sports. I have been a keen air gunner for many years but as I started to get older I have turned to more traditional methods of hunting. IV been a keen fisherman since I was old enough to hold a rod and have taken up ferreting in the last few weeks. So far I have built the ferret court, bought the nets, bought the mk3 finder and oh yeah the ferrets So I’m just waiting for the baby bunnies to get older and away I go. Also my friend has just started with a Harris hawk, so that
