  2. yep just finished eating mine, used to love pancake day when i was a kid
  3. when you say maybe lamping, have you been lamping before?if you havent you may find you prefer it to ferreting as it can be addictive, and if thats the case you may want a dog thats capable of doing more than just bunnys theres lots of decent crosses out there do a bit of research on the type you like then look for alitter out of working parents that someones bred to keep a pup back for themselves from good luck matt ps i like a bullx myself
  4. At the end of the day if they do what you want them to do and you get out there and enjoy seeing youre dogs work then fairplay to you,1400 rats is some going sounds like fun as well atb matt
  5. I know its near the end of the season and you want to get your first rabbit but maybe the dog needs a bit more time to mature ?i was in the same boat last year my dog was close but just not quite there i left him for a month and he finally entered on the 28th of feb he was 11mth ,as long as youre dogs spotting them running them and coming back when the lights off i dont think you can ask too much more at 9mths.What type of ground are you running the rabbits on i found it helps to enter a dog on ground wher there is longish rough grass as on short grass the rabbits are at ther fastest.Im in so
  6. I think it could be done if you had the right a couple of the right type of dogs some good luck, the right land and you were close at hand to finish the job but i think to have a pair of dogs that could do it regular would be almost impossible.I have seen a picture on someones avatar of a couple of minshaw dogs with a stag does anyone know the story behind the pic? it looks to be a good few years ago.Does anyone think it would be possible nowadays with the blood available to breed a line of dogs that would stand a chance?some of the american stag hounds and running dogs from australia look li
  7. it seems strange to me that people would want to breeed a line of terriers that are only good for rats and bushing, surely you would want to breed and own a terrier thats capable and game enough to do everything and if you dont want to do earthwork with it you dont,a terrier that doesnt want to go to ground lacks heart in my opinion and heart i thought was supposed to be what terriers are about.considering the price they are i would want them to be capable of more than just one job,i think once working dogs start to be bred for money and shows rather than ability then its a slippery slope.
  8. I think the wrecking crew dvd is a good watch,to be honest theres nothing else out there that comes close its action packed and the lads deserve credit for getting out there working their dogs having fun. What people have to remember is its a group of lads working their dogs together so it wouldnt be make sense to run one dog at a time if all the dogs are going to get a run.I got this dvd before i started working my dog so it was quite impressive to me,since getting out there and running dogs single handed and doubled up i do think some of the runs are abit drawn out considering there is 2 do
  9. hi mate has the dogs toe swollen up ?my dog broke the underside of his nail and exposed some of the quick he was fine for the first couple of days but then went lame on that leg, i took him to the vet and was given a ten day script of rimifin and amoxycillin £36 bill and im not rich, i think you need to weigh up how bad it is as to wether you go to the vets, my friend of here bullmastiffs dog ripped a nail off and he just bathed the foot rested the dog for 6 weeks+ like others have suggested to you, i think sometimes its easier when the whole nail comes off rather than leaving a weakened nai
  10. I was planning on packing in the end of march, due to a couple of injurys my dog picked up and the weather i havent been able to finish the season as i wanted,im just hopingto wind the season down gently and hopefully put some meat in the freezer, this has been the first full season with my dog and its got me well and truly hooked on working my dog think were both going to be very bored until the season starts again, need to find something else to do to keep me busy not sure what though yet atb matt ps when i was out with the dog the other night noticed the frogs are spawning am i right in thinki

  12. Mate i live in a culd de sac just like you describe i keep myself to myself ive been accused of shit to do with a cat even had the police round because of it,next time they speak to you just carry on ignore them people like you describe thrive on conflict they have nothing better to do. just be careful when you do start working your dogs though, you have my sympathy atb matt
  13. I think if i was just running fox and rabbit on smallish fields i would definitley give one of the 3/4 breds ago ive heard nothing but good things about jp dogs atb matt
  14. I heard about a bloke coming through the blackwall tunnell he had what he thought was a boxer with him,the police had been told to dna test any bully looking dogs as they were looking for pits, this poor fellas dog was tested came back it had pit in it and was put down. not sure if its a blood test or mouth swab, cheers matt

    guys

something needs to be done or else the lurcher forum is going to become a dead end for topics, just in the time ive been a member the threads have got shitter and some of the old names no longer post, maybe its just not possible to sustain a lurcher forum and it be intresting in the current climate its a shame great britain is supposed to pride its self on democracy and freedom but we give more rights to foreigners than to our own people
  19. Got to the ozzie doggers forum lots of info about apbt and bully crosses in australia also pups for sale atb in your search
  20. sorry to hear about your loss, lost my first lurcher at 12 weeks when it got off and was knocked over,i was gutted but managed to get another pup, just got to start again atb matt
  21. Thes people who slag the bulls are jealous, why alse would they go on about how shite they are, maybe because bullx are doing some things there cross cant, like its been said you dont see the people who run bullx having ago at other peoples cjoice of dog,if you dont like a particular cross fine no one asking you to run one,if you dont like them fine but dont slate people for there choice of dog,i think you would fine that most people arent keen to keep stuff that doesnt catch, at least withy a properly bred bullx you know it will put in 100% into what it does and not stop when the going gets roug
  22. nice pups atb with them lads
