    I had an afternoon decoying on some wheat stubble on Sunday. Wasn't it HOT out . . . . . . . . and the birds where not their ''keenest'' to play ball either . I set up first at the bottom of the field, but having the sun in my face with no shade what so ever, it soon became unbearable, so I upped sticks and moved up to the top of the field and set up on the East facing side of a hedge row. I started off with 10 flocked shell decoys and 2 dead birds on the magnet. Had a few good shots and some good right & lefts too! Finished up with 145, 120 odd in the pic and th

    On the flip side, if your in the wrong place, nothing will work.

    Place it near to the hide, off to one side, so the birds can see it in the distance, position it so as they come in to take a look at it, they will come across your decoy pattern just before they reach the magnet. Dont bother with any fancy decoys on it either, just use dead birds.

    Keep an eye on it, let the number build for a few days, then go and shoot it. If they are flighting between fields, get someone in the other field or get some banger ropes in there PS, Are you a para or ex-para ?

    I dont know the area, so I cant comment, but if its as you say, then no wonder! Its been pretty quiet down here really, right up to a week or 2 before the cutting started, the 1000's of woodys literally appeared over night! Not too sure if I will get another chance to get out after them as Iv got family commitments etc, but I am getting ready for the fowling season and there seem to be plenty of Canada geese about already!!
