I shoot therefore I am. I am therefore I shoot. Which is it? How hard is it to explain to someone who has never shot before, the pleasure of being able to cook a meal that you went out and got yourself - and not from Tesco!

Or to put it another way, shooting fills my life with enjoyment and relaxation and helps put food on the table, so it has become a way of life. During the day I do graphic and web design - at any other time, if I am am not sleeping or being flattened by the three kids, I would rather be shooting. Clays, game, rabbits, pigeons, I enjoy them all - but my main love is stalking.

For some people the idea of walking for hours over hills and crawling through streams while midges have you for lunch is their idea of hell, some people cant stand the thought of sitting in a high seat for hours waiting for that single shot. For me, the walk over hills and even the crawl through streams is a little bit of heaven on earth - I could do without the midges though. Sitting in a high seat is perhaps the only time i ever get to enjoy a true moment of peace.

I started shooting late in life compared to some people - is that a bad thing? I hope not. I may not have as much experience as others, but all those long days spent learning about everything to do with shooting, I am getting to enjoy them now - just think - it saves me from taking up golf!

Obviously as soon as shooting friends found out I did design I had to start doing logos and web sites for them and I have done a few, which then turned into an off-shoot of my main business - but if I am going out for a day I would rather shoot with people for pleasure than business. In fact, wouldn't it be nice not to worry about work at all?
