Hi all, A few years ago a keeper in Oxfordshire had two dogs stolen from professionally built locked kennels yards away from his house. i guess if you can home make, no problem, and i have seen some great ones locally and in Northumberland, but when you start buying commercial ones, you get what you pay for. just thinking whether i would like to be at the top of bendy chinese aluminium with a loaded rifle - don't think so! I have also seen a couple of home made seats where I was a guest in Scotland that had seen a bit of weather - let's just say that i would rather sit on the top strand of a barbed wire fence - at least i wouldn't have as far to fall. cheers - I'm not a writer, but i wish i could write about it properly - its just something of a tradition with us, and it was the perfect end to a perfect morning - you know that feeling as you drive home - where the world suddenly feels right? it's the feeling that is impossible to describe to someone who doesn't shoot, so the best thing to do is kick back with a cup of tea and enjoy the moment before saturday morning kids football brings reality crashing back in. Besides - 8am is just a tiny bit too early for the hip flask for me...!

Thanks Flytie, There were two of us shooting this morning (I should have said before we got one each!) and we were talking about Muntjac on the way home and how you can sit in a high seat as many times as you like watching the place where you 'know' they are going to appear, and see nothing, but turn around and there will be one behind you - I am not saying that Muntjac have magic powers and materialise out of thin air - OK, maybe I am... A stunning morning - absolutely still, no frost and a good high cloud cover. The wood came to life with pheasants making the kind of confident noise they only make once the season has finished. An old dog fox appeared first, but as today it was important to get a deer for demonstrating carcass handling in a DSC1 course(not by me, i only did my DSC1 last year), he lived to see another day. The first Muntjac fell soon after day-break, the second a few minutes later. A perfect morning, especially after a bacon roll and a cup of tea.

Hi all, Having just had my Whisky Moment, I thought I should just share a bit of joy. As members I have spoken to know, I am pretty new to stalking and today shot my first Roe, two lovely does, within 30 seconds of each other and happily both were dead where they fell and recovered easily. Just come back from the best day out shooting - one of those days that you just know are going to stay with you forever. It all started well when the first shot of the day two guns to my left brought down a strong flying woodcock. hi, for events in london, try Claudio at A1 Shooting Ground (www.a1sg.co.uk) Andy Castle at West London Sporting Targets (www.ACSportingTargets.com) both of those are a good price and very approachable - if you want to do something expensive then West London or Royal Berks would be good - but very expensive! but do be aware that there are lots of expensive clay shoots for this cause and you need to make sure you get committed numbers before you book. there are a few grounds in Bucks and Oxfordshire but i dont know them so well I live in Bucks and work in London, so count

wow! i have just been reading up on all the proposed changes - i hadnt followed this before i did the course, but i guess i am now glad i have done the course - i did actually enjoy it. How will they deal with the old school stalker? the guy who has 40 years of shooting under his belt, who goes to scotland twice a year, but has no intention of starting a load of exams late in life - what a massive loss to the Scottish economy those people would be - they spend thousands. I dont have a problem with making sure poeple are safe (myself included, which is why i didnt mind doing the course)
