hi to all first of all there are no "russian" dogs - we import greyhounds, majority Irish and Australian racer lines, so ours and yours dogs are similar we have different hunt conditions and differen hares only one in ten greyhound can catch our hare alone! ( and three in ten can't reach hare at 50-100 m starting distance!!!) where are available saluki, borzoi, tazi, bakhmull, taygan, whippet, hortay but... greyhound! yes, lack stamina... yes, injuries :censored: but... greyhound! only greyhound has enough speed to reach hare

i see.. your are right, pure greyhound best in first minute there high priority has speed- if dog no so fast, stamina is no matter...there are dogs there with great stamina (borzoi, hortaya, lurcher) - they can run 2-3 km with their max speed but they catch fewer hares

there are many lurchers there we test they with greyhounds - lurchers lose as rule there is no question to KILL - lurchers cant reach grey hare

in fact many modern dogs "chart polski" have in pedigree russian hortaya russian hortaya isnt FCI breed although our hunters have quite good grey (blood TOP 10 racers) but rare grey able to get hare alone there are 2 or 3 dog can do well coordinated work - they have 30-50% chanse to get hare. Tazi - no chanse. Saluki - no chanse. Whippet - good chanse (approx. 20%) on first 300-500 m. Real hare need real dog. No fox,no rat. Grey hare worthy opponent
