  1. mainly i like flying longwings cause i like the style of the flights and the quarry i fly.but i would think a lot of the chose would be down to the quarry and land which you are goin to hunt for which bird you would use.. but im sure you would get some other opinons on the subject.. I'm leaning more towards hawks as they can be flow of the fist directy at game. I understand you can do the same with falcons but they are a slower and wouldln't be able to catch pheasants or ducks, not of the fist anyway. have a look at this Class! I take it we don't train them like

  3. Hi Phantom! Yeah, taking out the young ones ain't nice.
  4. Who's looking forward to those mid-summer evenings out rabbit shooting? I know I am! Nothing better than ambush hunting on an nice warm evening in late summer, can't beat in IMO. Cheers, LGB
  5. As per title really. Why do some choose falcons while others decide to take on hawks. Different hunting methods or styles? Different quarry? Cheers.
  6. Ok, I've always had a keen intrest in falconry and birds of prey in general, and have always though about taking up falconry, it seems to me about the best way to hunt. I've always been put of by the ammount of time it takes and how much commitment is needed I could easily spare around 2 hours day and I spend about that on my two dogs. I've been looking at a few posts on here lately and alot of people keep falcons, dogs, ferrets and even shoot! I thought you pratically have to devout your entire life to falconry without time for friends, family or anything else. Well, that's the impression I'v
  7. What do I write when adding moderator to the application? In the same part of the application that you are applying for the centre fire put 'Sound Moderator for the above calibre' - dont forget in the ammunition section to put 'Expanding ammunition' Can I buy expaniding and non-expanding? I've found the target stuff noramlly groups better at longer ranges.
  8. Whta the best time to go on an ambush hunt? I've found a niceb little warren I want to wait near. Cheers
  9. I'll see him Saturday so I'll just ask him to sighn it. Also, save me making a new thread, how do I add a sound moderator onto the application, and how many .22lr round should I ask for? I'm thinking of 1000 to buy and 1200 to keep. Cheers
  10. Cheers lads. Printed off a letetr ready to be signed. Wish me luck!
  11. Thee land is cleared for centerfire, I know that for a fact. Is it ok if I just give the adress of the land or DO I need a letter.
  12. Is it an abosloute requirment to get a letter for permission from the landowner? I've been shooting the land for two years with shotguns and now the landowner has said yes to an FAC. However, he's not the type of person I would want to keep pestering about things. You have to know him to know what I mean. He doesn't like signing or writing anything, and I fear that if I ask he will just shrug it off and say stick to shotguns. His word is his word to him, and as far as he's concerned that's the end of it. Plus he's rarely in a good mood. Do I definitely need a letter of premission?
  13. You think I'd get a .223 on my first application, without a mentor? The estae I shoot does have a fox problem so I guess I could dow with a centerfire. Not sure I'd get it though. I don't want to appear to eager, nor do I want to have a mentor.
  14. Your referees fill in part E of the application and then you give them a form 125 to complete and send. Clicky, I know you're not on NY but the process is the same. http://www.leics.police.uk/files/library/documents/ff101.pdf The application seems different here. No single referee forms.
  15. Ok, I get it now. I can't see why it's so different from the SGC application. Gun are guns!
  16. I've just been looking at the FAC application form, and both the referee decleration parts are on the smae page, aswell as partc C(storage of firearms) How can they send of the forms themselves if it's all on a single page, aswell as the stuff I need to fill in?
  17. How many rounds of ammo should I ask for? Also, would it affect my application if I ask for more than one caliber for my first ticket, i.e 22lr, 17HMR, FAC Air?
  18. Cheers mate, Is it worth it for my first application though?
  19. Good Guy. Hows the Crossbow?

  20. I have premission to shoot there, I just don't want to ask him to write out a letter. So I can write one and get him to sign it? Is this fundemental then? That's what I said yer daft 'a'porth! Yes it is. You must have written permission to shoot over a piece of land. I suppose if you owned a Zillion acres in your own name it might be different . . . Ric Thanks Ric! I take it there no point asking for an open ticket?

  22. LOL. I bet you gave him a hug indeed!
  23. Do I definitely need a letter of premission? I've been shooting the land for 3 years now and I know the guy really well. He's one of those old fashion types, by that I mean once they've said yes then that's the end of it. Not for writting out letetrs and all that stuff. Thanks....
