  1. Some of the target stuff can be really accurate when shooting over longer distances, if it's a headshot then it's still humane.
  2. Hi MH. I've put down zeroing just to be on the safe side lol. When it comes to the moderator, do I just put rifle with moderator next to .22RF, or do I need to fill out a new slot and reason for owning. Cheers
  3. Thanks for clearing that up, lads. On my application though, do I put vermin control and zeroing? Cheers
  4. Can I still buy non-expanding if I have expanding on ticket?
  5. When you purchase rifle ammo, say for a .22RF, does the gunshop owner/employee wrtie the ammount purchased on your FAC, or/and do you have to notify the police of your purchase? I'm still waiting on my FAC, however when I do get it I'll want to do a fair ammount of target work to become proficient before moving onto living quarry. Someone has told me that any kind of plinking/target shooting on land, other than for zeroing, is a big no, and the police keep a track of how much ammo is being purchased. Sorry if this silly question, I just want to set off on the right foot. Chee
  6. There is no pellet restriction, the pellets you shoot are the same as in a sub 12 ft/lbs air gun. Those references will be completely fine, the job won't matter. ATB!!! Good luck Hi elvocan. I didn't think it would matter about the pellets, but I heard somewhere in N'Ireland you have to store pellets. I know they require an FAC for any gun over there though.
  7. So an enthusiastic landowner has now given me premission to shoot over his land, about 20 acres - not massive but plenty of backstops, for the control of rabbits and even fox. I've decided to apply for FAC air, .22LR, and .22 hornet for fox. A few basic questions: How do I put FAC air on my application? Do I have to write what power I want the rifle to have and how many pellets to keep? Also how many rounds to store and buy for .22lr and .22 hornet? With regard to references, do the two refs need to have upstanding jobs or postions in the community, as per SGC? I was thiking of a work coll
  8. Anyone use an FAC rated air rifle. If so how are you finiding it? Thinking of getting an air ranger or mk2 in .22 at 30ftlbs. Cheers
  9. Hi, Thinking of getting an FAC for a PCP air rifle, however I have many different premissions with some in different countys. What's the likehood of getting an open cert first time around? It's not as if I'm applying for my own artillery peice. Cheers
  10. At one point he swings around with a loaded gun, pointing at it at everyone.

  12. Local farmer was found dead. He may have stolen the shotgun.
  13. Killed at least five then kills himself: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1283392/Lake-District-shooting-Cabbie-Derrick-Bird-hunted.html
  14. You beat me to posting it lol. Doesn't look good though. They will be calling for even tighter controls now.
  15. Any of game birds would cost alot. Why do people prefer short wings to long wings? A lot depends on the land you have ,you really need a lot of space to fly long wings at their best. You can fly short and broad wings on much smaller areas. You have to choose your bird according to the land you have, hence a lot of folk fly hawks out of necessity. I prefer short and broad wings because I get closer to the action,in long wing falconry the action seems a bit remote to me. Although I first flew Goshawks I really enjoy flying Harris hawks, they suit the land I fly and I really like the relat

  17. I posted the belwo comment in anger, so sorry. We need to be really careful about what we post in times like this. Tons of anti's on the forum.

  18. How exactly are you going to make that fox pay "big time" Listen, get a farmer or someone to shoot it humanely but please don't take your anger out on animals. It makes real sportsmen look bad, plus I hate people who vent anger on animals or children.

  19. Gamehawking or pursuit falconry? Juts curious as I imagine land to fly at pheasants and grouse must be really hard to get.
  20. Goss hawks are better It's the speed isn't it? I'm wanting to take game birds off the fist. Not too worried about rabbits and ground game, just pheasant, partridge and mallard. A gos or a falcon seems my best bet though, just need to find a mentor now. never flew my harries of the fist always followed on, and had great sport with both male a female and both will take pheasent..sorry if you seen these before.. Nice looking bird mate. Some people say HH's are ugly, I think they're nice looking. A bit like a Goldie.

  22. Good post. It's not something that you can just do 2 hours every day religiously. What happens if you go out,and after an hour and a half your bird spooks and flies off? I for one couldn't just say " Oh sh*t I can't look for it today i'm out of my two hour window" Most employers will be ok with it once,or even twice but after that they will soon find someone else who doesn't have to go "chasing their hawk around the country" You can have a life and it's not as if your world ends the minute you buy a hawk but you do have to put your priorities in order in a big way!If you can only give
  23. Are harris hawks good at taking game birds?
