  1. Long Dogs, nice looking dog in the profile pic from what I can see Dark Continent, nice little shit hole called Nigeria! Not doing too bad myself but I prefer prawns, crab & digging http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/248794-dorado-barracuda-lures/page__hl__dorado__st__15
  2. Your right about the colour, I’ve caught several, some posted on here & the colours change rapidly. I’ve seen them hunting on the surface & they change colour in a flash when they are darting about, also soon has you’ve landed them & they fight just the same when on the deck. Also had them on rod & reel (20lb line), just never had time on this occasion & it was hand line or nothing.
  3. For sure but they taste good
  4. 20lb hand line, no idea how much this thing weighed but they are generally in pairs, I think this is the female because the other one was much bigger & I failed to get a gaff into it then lost it when 125lb steel trace parted at the swage (trace wasn't intended for Dorado, it was for Cuda baited with fresh Tuna). These things were jumping 4-5ft out of the water.
  5. Couldn’t get back on the site to read the thread from my last location but jumped in & bought a Michell Mag Pro Vertic Drop Shot 3-15grams & Shimano Symetre 750Fi & those Fcking Rapala’s Lures aren’t cheap! Just got b back today & seen this kit…….not sure if I like it & the Symetre doesn’t fit the rod too good
  6. Looking for a spinning rod for mincing about on the Tees, got my eye on a 7ft multi-pc 5g-30g rated rod............ or do I need something around 3g-15g considering I’ll be climbing in & out of bushes all day looking for Trout, Grayling (Pike?) Tadpoles & Sticklebacks! Is there such a thing has a “cast & spinning rod”? I’m using a 30lb boat rod to spin with at the moment & that’s doing the business.
  7. Who.....the Nigerians or the fish
  8. I find it much more relaxing knowing I’m getting paid for this shit
  9. Getting the hang of this shit now
  10. Got a bunch or 50-100lb steel trace wire but if all else fails I’m well tooled up
  11. Hi Peter, been shopping at Whitby Angling Supplies, in fact just got the Penn Bait 460 Live liner from them, opted for the smaller 460 over the multipliers etc on account of the fishing being on top (2000mtrs deep) the Tuna aren’t that big unless you go down 60mtrs (got ROV’s in the water). I have a bunch of kit for Barracudas, including the Tube Lures but for some strange reason the Cuda have not been around for the last 2 weeks, Dorado are plentifully at the moment, they will take small Muppets but I only have 20lb line so its testing. I can’t be sure but cheap Toby Lures catch Tuna for fun
  12. Cheers lads, big learning curve, had at least 6 on the line so far, this being a small one & these bitches fight for fun or worse still run under the vessel & the line snaps on the barnacles ..........so the big one got away
  13. Stick with it Billy, I don’t know my arse from my elbow when it comes to fishing, you just have to get into “hunting” mode……& spend shit loads of cash on things you know FA about like the rest of us Not Pike but they are next on my list.
  14. Cheers Danny, I like the Lure idea definitely, currently using that method on Barracuda but not much success with Dorado, very choosey about what they want, I have a Penn 460 Slammer Live liner with me at present, also using the steel trace method for everything. I might take you up on that guided tour mate, quick learner, just don’t know the basics. I’ve dabbled with fly etc but like to remain mobile, not into sitting on my arse all day waiting......
  15. Fancy pop at the Pike fishing on the Tees when I get back, complete novice boys so what kit do I need? Rod type, reel, lines hook sizes, general tackle etc. Covert op’s not required, all the appropriate wheels have been greased but I do like anything that folds down compact but not cheap shit, smaller the better. Thanks in advance
  16. Not my location but nearby, I’m closer to the water but these fcking fish are BIG http://www.demotix.c...shing-oil-field
  17. Not a rig but that just about sums it up, every night the Tuna chase the flying fish, the Cuda’s turn up for the Tuna & its game on! Some other little shit looking fish during the day with teeth that must live off the barnacles on the vessel & the occasional appearance by the Dorado, Black Dolphins & the Pilot Wales that travel with them. When we are grafting alongside the static drill ships there is an abundance of fish, manmade reef but there is a strict no fishing policy in the oil fields…….all covert op’s Oh & its 2000mtrs deep so fck knows were my glasses are! My
  18. Will do, I'll get onto them later today. Had a good run of Tuna last night, got a few pic’s but can’t get them online at the moment, Cuda’s had a pop at them online. Good fun except I lost my prescription safety glasses over the fcking side! £120 quid’s worth.....price of a good rod!
  19. Heads fizzing with long range window shopping! Taking into account the grief we have with customs down here coming & going, I’ve been leaning towards these compacts but need the opinion of someone who knows better.
