WELL.............what were they like?

I have used citronella spray collars but they only activate when the dog actually barks sharply, not whines. My dog whines when shut in the kitchen loose at night, but when he is shut in his cage in the kitchen he is quiet. I cover the cage with a blanket and he loves it, it is only a small cage but sometimes the three of them (terriers) are all sqeezed into it together, they choose to do this themselves - they seem to feel secure and hidden away in it.,

Dog started urinating every morning?

Is it a speyed female? I heard recently that this can be a problem due to ? lack of oesrogen in the dogs tissues? I have a speyed female myself who used to pull the bedding out of her plastic bed, pee on it and then lie in it, as though she liked being covered in her own smell? By the way, she doesn't do this anymore - it stopped once i took the bedding away but just left the plastic bed to lie on. She seemed happy enough with this arrangement. Maybe you should stop wasting money on new rugs? -
Good advice - buy a crate! it's handy for getting the pup from under your feet when necessary too. Also good for if you are going anywhere and need a temporary kennel to keep the dog under control. I also use a crate in the car for travelling as well - saves the dog from wrecking your car and being a danger when you are driving. You can get them quite cheap on the internet

I had LASEK two years ago. Perfect vision now - no more sore contact lens - no more steamed up spectacles etc. Cost £1200 worth every penny for a few days discomfort and anxiety. Tests before hand were very thorough. On the day of the op it took less than 10 minutes from when i climbed onto the couch until i was sitting up saying "I can see! I can see! It's a miracle!". The actual 'laser' bit took less than 20 seconds on each eye. Eye sight is very precious and it is natural to be cautious, but for me it was so worth it. By the way, when you reach the age for needing them, y

This year i plan to have a go at growing some potatoes in the garden. Due to lack of open soil, this will have to be done in contatiners. Has anyone any tips? will i have to buy seed potatoes from the garden centre or can i use ones that have already sprouted - the ones that get forgotten about in the cupboard? Or does anyone know of a good source on the internet? All advice appreciated.

If you think a chain may help your dog give it a go BUT make sure you have someone show you how to fit it properly. It must lie loose on the dogs neck when he is behaving and walking in the correct position - beside your leg - so make sure you have a 'heel' command and make sure your dog knows what the word is and what it means - reward him when he is in the correct position - food usually works well, especially if labrabor is in his make up! By the way, some patience and one-to-one practice with the dog by itself is called for without the distraction of the other dogs he usually runs wi

what age is your son? What happens to the pup if he can't handle it or be committed to caring for it? He might be better off with something that does not need to be looked after.. a skateboard perhaps..?

Put your dog in a pen with concrete slabs as your floor. Likewise, if you don't want to have a pen and your garden is relatively small, run a layer of concrete paving slabs around the perimeter, up against your fence. This should also make it easier to mow your lawn without having to get up close to the fence. That's if you have any lawn left, dogs, eh! it will also help to keep the dogs nails short if it still insists on trying to dig through the concrete

Have you ever been unfortunate enough to see two greyhounds fight or saw them after a fight, wimps they are not.I have unluckily been in that situation After I'd cleaned them up both dogs stood quietly as I stitched their cuts, not a hint of a TRAUMA. Just out of interest (and appreciating that any dog can get in a scrap, given the right circumstances) would you say in general that they are given to fighting easily? Just wondering, iv'e never had a grey but have been told by peolpe who do, that they are very laid back in their ways. In racing kennels are they usually kept singly or in w

thank you for your interest. Ours are not K.C. registered and are a far more streamlined type than the hush puppy Basset as people know them. Ours are the shape they should be which is what they were initially bred like. About the only book you can get on the old type Bassets is called "A bother of Bassets" which shows and explains far more. Their hunting technique is basically to draw of their own accord and raise the roof once they find a fox obviously we are doing it to the new laws of flushing to guns so they tend not to tire themselves out too much, but they are far faster than you would

Nice to see different type of dogs out and about. Are they Kennel Club type dogs? Iv'e only ever seen some in a local park (pets) - and they looked quite fat and lumbering specimens with very short legs and feet like fists and claws and red droopy eyes. What is their hunting technique? Are they able to move at much speed and for very long? Do they corner what they find or would they 'get stuck in'? thanks

Personally, I don't think being a Christian is at the heart of the matter - I am totally unreligious but I do feel strongly that it is wrong for these people who are not committed to joining in the British - not Christian - way of life to expect to get all the benefits of living here and imposing their values on us. They should go elsewhere - especially the ones who were born here but derived from immigrant stock who feel it is their right to carry out terrorist atrocities, such as bombing public transport etc etc.

Whippetboy - just out of interest, is that you and your dog in the avatar? It is a bit small to see clearly but it looks like a fox on the ground? Is the same dog in question and what is the story behind the despatch of the fox?

You might be better off with a cage for the back of your vehicle mate. They keep your dog more secure in that they can do less mischief -like ripping out the electric wires etc to entertain themselves when left alone in your vehicle (speaking from expensive personal experience there ) you can order them off internet or petshops and they fold down easily when not needed.

Anyone watching this now? First time I saw it I thought oh oh - another Deliverance! Theres scary people in them thar woods - watch out!

My dog had a smallish one on his neck - he couldn't really reach it to scratch or traumatise it. It got bigger over about 6 months and then it got a bit infected and discharged itself. It is pretty well invisible now - but it was just quite a small one.

Thanks for all your replies - it looks like fleas are the problem. I've shampooed the other dog now, washed the floors with bleach and dusted the floor and settees etc with flea powder that I found at the back of the dog cupboard and binned their bedding. Thank god I have no carpets! My dog has very sensitive skin and I am amazed that he does not seem to be affected at all - he's 8 now but when he was bitten by fleas as a pup his skin had raw patches and he was as cross as hell! It also cost me £35 back then for a 30 second consultation with a vet. Iv'e had no problems until now but it ju

A lot of prejudice on there about a lot of society - gypsies, the Irish, the Military, blood thirsty dogs...........

I noticed my bitch biting at the top of her tail and trying to scratch herself along the wall. On closer inspection under her coat (she has a thick rough coat) it looked like she had been sprinkled with black pepper across her 'rump' and the top of her tail down in her coat, close to her skin. Her skin does not look broken or red. The black bits felt gritty. What I would like to know is would this be a sign of fleas? My other dog, who has a smooth coat does not seem affected, he had fleas when he was a pup and had quite a severe reaction, his skin was raw and he went bald where he was bitte

That dog may need to learn his place in the home - as the lowest of the low. Sure he is ok with other dogs - they sort it out among themselves - if he gets his ass kicked by another dog no harm is done really - that's dogs for you. If he bites someone in public or a visitor to your home or one of your kids then it gets much more serious. Good advice was given about making him work for his food - follow it and do no allow it to climb on the furniture or get over excited by the kids - little dogs are 'cute' until they show their colours. I do not beleive in harshly physically punishing dogs

I honestly think that all 'hobby/interest' type magazines tend to be a bit repetative after a year or so - articles relating to times of the year come and go in cycles. I think they are interesting at first but when you see the similar articles starting to repeat you soon lose interest. After a while I found myself reading the headlines and looking at the pictures but not actually reading the articles. Also regarding the ads sections - it's good to know the latest commercial developments/inventions etc but how much stuff (dogs included) does one need? I find sites like this much more intere

How long have you had that pup and what steps have you taken to socialize it? Maybe he needs to get out and about a bit more but it's bad news if he is biting folks. Do you have any more dogs at home? Have you owned dogs before?

Disgusting. I know a lot of people who say canabis is 'only harmless and recreational' but when i hear it is inloved in a case like this it sets alarm bells ringing. The bit that really disturbs me is that others stood by and did nothing! I think a bit of 'social justice' is called for there.
