j.p. told me 20 years ago that you only lose a good dog, and that you cant lose a bad un.... looking back how true.

Definitely it can be worth! I'm new in Patterdales, but I know a lot APBT-history. A bad worker (from a proven stock) can be a good producer, and a good worker can be a bad producer. If you only breed best to best you will not be satisfied. The line and the producing ability is more important. couldnt agree more with you hagen, most lads with a few years behind them have seen supposed 'super matings'of top class working dogs put to top bitches and yet produce nothing, while other families/studs seem to keep on producing the goods, ie spartacus! also when given to kg spartacus was by a

Every 10 generations or so the bull should go in to bring the bone and head size up, if you don't breed back to staff bull blood they get snipey heads in your line or strain of terrier, to breed bull blood out you use different lines of terriers or all the same lakeys, border lakelands, patterdales, jack russells yep absolutely. and some of the first bull crossess are the best diggin dogs??

put ad on for friend, sire 3/4 greyhoundwheaten, dam:saluki greyhound/bull greyhound. top workers.dogs £150 bitches £175, message me for more details phone number etc.

new born baby....biting dog...no brainer it has to go

This is without doubt ,THE best post of all time and silences all but those who know better . bang on chris, pics prove nothing and besides who has a pic of smithy, mccoy or nigger working??also, some of the best producing animals were nothing special, a good producer is a good passer on of genes, and vice versa top dogs can sometimes be really poor producers. i see it a bit like eye colour , me and the missus have dark blue and brown eyes respectively and have produced one brown, one light blue and one slate couloured eyes in our offspring?? imho the idea that worker to worker is the on

never heard of a strain but have definitely seen one dig!! a lad i know many years since used one for digging!!not much noise!! ended in tears of course dog lasted until 3 years of age i believe???

now this could get.........interesting????

brill post mate i absolutely agree. and it would be brill if lads with a good bitch could access the best studs around(even if they are not in that persons sphere of friends). nixy said in an earlier post that greyhound, horses were not like terrier breeders, i disagree, they are striving for THE BEST POSSIBLE performance animals, same as genuine terrier lads. and to do that you need top studs, simple as. and so to me its easy, line breed to top studs=quality dogs??? really see the points you and others have brought forward, brill ,and i still dont think it was a total crap idea either!!! lol. l
-
thanks lads wil let you know how i go on
-
i have to agree with that mouse thats how i have kept and acquired dogs myself for many years, but i do know that there are good dogs that could be used sensibly as outcrosses for me, you or anybody and there is no way that will happen (unless we are mates or you or i decide to let someone else have a look, but to do that i admit could be risky for points mentioned above)
-
wow interestin stuff!! i guess all the studs advertised over the years in edrd, cwkly then have been a total waste of time ( danny, digger, grip, chowt etcetc and all the lurchers !! ummm??? even tho they have bred some good stuff for lads who were after putting a good bitch they owned to a good dog or lookng for an outcross). There's guys out there with line bred dogs and they're lines go back 20+ years, do you realy think they are going to share that blood with anyone? well no actually because then they couldnt play the my dogs r better than yours game could they?? my question is why not??
-
why? Because the top stud dog owners would all be thrown in jail! Haggler good point if not done right. let me have a go: black dog, excellent worker (pre-ban)sire good pups. pm for more info.
-
just occurred to me has anyone thought of putting studs up on site, a bit like in back of c/weekly, edrd?, as this could really benefit future generations of working dogs (in my opinion). obviously it may need to be monitored in some way ie people vouch for working abilities or quality of pups sired etc. i guess the danger would be money lads tryin to stud crap out to earn a few quid, but on the other hand it may make a large number of quality dogs available to pool of w/terriers therby reducing culling, wasting of time etc in alot of instances? this in effect would be like horse/ greyhound bre

alright lads, i have recently been granted fac for silenced hmr17 and silenced 22-250 (for fox). i have not bought 22-250 yet. however i have recently got a couple of farms to shoot on which say i can take deer if they show. so iam thinking of asking to change fac to 243 silenced as i can then use for both fox (day and night )and deer (day). as you can tell this is my first fac so i would really welcome any comments on: comparison of calibres, and likelyhood of getting 243 silenced if asked for? any comments much appreciated.

Your talking out of your ass man!!! Nuttall is one of the few genuine terriermen left,i have had his lines for the last 30 year's and i've never had a none-worker off him,and as im a hunt-terrierman my living depend's on my dog's being up to scratch! If a pure Nuttall does'nt enter it's probably because of the bloody amature on the end of the couples!!!!!! i guess you disagree!!!! (oh well i will show you how to post a thread like an intelligent human being). well your welcome to your opinion, and so am i. i have PERSONALLY bought half a dozen dogs off the man (in my younger naive yea

well almost mate, mccoy was bred out of a white middleton dog called jock, over a black bitch called darkie, hence why he threw occasional white himself, the breeding of darkie was kept quiet by pb himself (so i dont know no matter how much i asked him but rumour has it was bred down off toddy lines from warrington by dr???) spartacus was out of blackjack to a red parkes bitch owned by dr at the time , not sure how much bull in blackjack (tufftpal is the man to ask re this). yep i totally agreewith you if you breed enough you get something sooner or later. I know how mccoy was bred so beli
