  1. had a wee walk on some local permission, the skies have cleared and the wind vanished not much about and most saw or heard you miles away
  2. how many 30" greyhounds won the waterloo cup or the derby ? i'd like to bet a few at 25" did
  3. forecast says clear here later, might have a wee go local but prefer later oclock
  4. theres also the argument that the racier/faster types overshoot a little more because of they're speed, imo they also lack that wee bit of weight needed at the end of the run, are we looking for perfection ? at the end of the day its whats inside the dog that gets the job done thats important
  5. hats off to you, taking on a rescue, i hope it turns out well for you
  6. ask whip / grey on here his 1st x paddy does well himself and has been used at stud quite a bit (he'd shag you if you stand still long enough) he seems to throw well and theres often pups on the go
  7. there's a lot of nurture in a good dog......even if the idea were to work who says the 'clone' will get the same chances, flukes, lucky breaks, experience etc
  8. we all know genetics don't always follow our logic, there is a chance of an almost pure beddy is there not ? perhaps not quite as obvious...........surely we're just watering down the odds
  9. i'm just hoping someones giving it a go.............get it on dvd, it'll go well for xmas
  10. a bonnie wee tartan wan would look smashing.........just think of what it would do for your street cred.......maybe even get matching ones for your dogs
  11. Put your bitch on Norethisterone 5mg daily, if you keep a record of her last season ie what date she broke, start giving her the pill a month before she's due to break again, then take her off it after the hunting season. I find it has no side effects with my bitches. even racing jeff ? my mate races greyhounds but sees a drop in performance....don't suppose losing a yard or so matters to a lurcher but racers....
  12. when i was younger i had a c/g x d/g very easy going, all he did was eat sleep and hunt but then again so did i , the key probably is to get your mutts out regular and often, satisfy they're mental and physical needs and most lurchers will be easy to live with
  13. looks like fun..........ive offered to take my mother in laws white cockapoo out with mines but she wont have anything to do with it, fck i could have a laugh
  14. Spot on. Just what I was about to say. Get something you fancy. Out of parents you like and that are doing the job. Don't restrict yourself with something small (3/4 whippet 1/4 collie) if you think you might want or need something bigger in 12 months. lot of sense there..........my deerhound x wasn't made or bought for mooching woodland and scrub but she does fine, best to get a type you like and put some time and commitment into it, get yourself out with a few different types you might click with a bigger type or fall in love with the beddy x's
  15. i've seen tiny beddy / whippets mooch well and cover busting deerhound x's
  16. how would we do it ? maybe the mods would help ?....................
  17. your going to get wwaaayyy conflicting opinions on that........my view its his living, he must look after them, ive been there they looked fine to me
  18. nah...........don't believe it, too many trademarks, he'd be sussed in no time
  19. cracking mate, she's turning into a proper dog
  20. skycat as usual is spot on.........i would add that textbooks and training manuals are all fine but every dog is an individual, my collie x is a bolshie sod at times and my deerhound x can be timid and sensitive so we have to adapt to they're individualities to communicate effectively with them, find out what exactly makes your pup tick and go with it
  21. i miss the tales of the big lands
