  1. good wee vid, awesome air rifle, i wonder if the rabbits are a different breed to ours though
  2. We call them Baffies also..what you have to remember.. Moll is from a foreign county...some thing along the line's of scottish X english..
  3. ouch......nasty one maybe take a wee while to heal, sounds like you got her good treatment early, atb
  4. 'baffies'.........a quaint colloquial scottish term for carpet slippers
  5. it's not just the speed it's how long they last, the fastest greyhounds are sprinters
  6. a useless mass produced pish collie cross and a hairy blue nutter..............i wonder where ive seen that before
  7. looks like everyone had a ball, great write up, cracking pics, just.............i thought all bull cross owners wore trackies but maybe the baffies will start a new trend
  8. my mate got a reject (a 'fighter') years ago a bitch about 60lb that would take on anything, took foxes like a terrier takes rats, a demon on roe and great single handed on hares but very fiery and determined took some horrendous knocks, i moved away and i believe she broke her neck following a roe into woodland, i think if she'd been bred with something to temper that fire a little she'd have thrown ace pups. always fancied the idea of bringing one up from a pup as a lurcher maybe instill a little common sense but a lot depends on the nature of the ground
  9. don't know whether it's because their wiser or better exercised but hare's that have been chased a couple of times are much harder to catch, theres a big difference between a green hare in a remote location to an educated hare on the outskirts of covilisation
  10. really smart bitch looks in a1 nick, i think you could put a blackpool donkey over her and still get smart pups
  11. theres a likeness between her as a pup and yours, it's a wee belter, your gonna have some wee team in a year or so, mines is coming on ok bud had her out after golf course rabbits at last light a lot lately she's had a few but when we accidentally put up a hare (no intent to course) she really takes off. going to get her back on the lamp soon (i'm off for another op) and we'll find out how good she is
  12. the beddy xs have always been about as long as i can remember just like your collie xs just with the ban now i think tend to be going for smaller dogs i think atb i had one in the early 's, fearless he was, will always have a soft spot for them, was down for a pup from 'so what's' bitch but she didn't take 1st time and the wife and young lass spotted 'belle' and i got outvoted before the bitch was mated again, but she didnt turn out too shabby just a wee bit bigger than i fancied
  13. rake, he looks a wee topper mate i'm sure he'll do well for you, must be the fashion these beddy x's, bob's brother has just bred his greyhound with a beddy, looks like the rabbit population is in for a wee tanking eh. p.s. is the mighty one not going to be tempted with one?
  14. my collie cross took a few ferreting around flight ponds last year, was only nipped once and switched on to the game, she also seemed to know not to bring them to me. they were living in rabbit burrows and when a bunny bolted she still retrieved them alive but rats were crunched, shook and just left lying. not that i'm interested in doing it lots (my ferreting mate has 5 russels leave it for him) but i think she'd be handy enough with practise
  15. pup's doin well, should be ace come the winter atb
  16. slow and steady and always supervised, not keen on the feeding together but drinking milk is ace, check out haymin's vid of them playing together
  17. how did they turn out? They are 10 month now. Shaping up well. His bitch is coming on good. I will tel him to have a look at topic and coment ta muchly mate, youd think with all the 3/8 5/8 collie x's out there this would have been a popular type of mating and there would have been more gen and feedback
  18. well as a rabbit dog day+ night , i dont think you will beat a colliex grey .Ive had 3 all been well quick on rabbits, my dog now Bryn is a 1x collie grey, and is very fast for a 1x , had big bags in the lamp, and prob my best rabbit dog ive had so far. With this x they are very clever, and will only do what (they) want, be it lots of runs or tackle certain quarry, where as other xs will just do it. But with colliexs good coat, feet, wind, brain, they are spot on in the winter for the rabbit job. Bryn great nose had a mark for every rabbit here ray mate, he ju
  19. why? Better feet coat and nose than a border i would have thought the deerhound part would bring coat and feet into the mix
  20. your lucks gotta change bud, the way i see it you can only go one way now......up..........get a pup!
  21. i had an 18lb non ped years ago that took lots of rabbits and was in on bigger stuff with the bigger dogs but she was no italian greyhound lapdog, she was bred from strong racing bred dogs, any ig ive seen looks frail and fragile, weak looking feet and no balance kinda more front end than back but hey if it rocks your boat
  22. many moons ago we fasted our racing whippets, i think the logic behind it was a domesticated dogs digestive system wasn't too far removed from that of a wild canid and they didn't eat every day, it was the way i was taught by the real old school guy's but i didn't really buy into it and had better results without the fast
