  1. smart looking duo there (im not telling any man they've got a nice pair ) easy to see the effort put into them
  2. Why would this make any difference daytime or nighttime. depends on definition of 'hard nights lamping', lamping dogs can get 20 runs an hour or more you'd be hard pressed to find anything like that many runs daytime
  3. really need a pic or two before i'd give any advice but a pulled, broken or split nail can be easily treated at home
  4. aye good find, impressive speed and close races but is that really coursing ? what happened to turn's, go bye's, wrench's etc ? would a drag lure not give the same result ? how far did they run ? no real test of strength, agility or stamina imo, can we really compare that to true open field coursing ?
  5. is that because we are our own worst enemies? it only takes one numpty to put up a stupid post or an illegal pic and we're all tarred with the same brush
  6. i would say yes, would linebreeding not be used to set a type, a line could come from 1 or 2 studs owned by the one guy but mated to a variety of bitches
  7. Very nice those two mate, How old is the 2nd bitch and where abouts did you get it from? pm if you prefer thanks she's not 2 yet so although she had a few odds and sods and a couple of decent nights late last winter i suppose this'll be her first real season, she came from a guy on here (dvdsky) from northumberland, the pups were on here and the little one that was about last to go caught the eye of the missus and young lass (outvoted again)
  8. Lovely dogs mate what way is the 2nd dog bred? deerhound x lurcher to lurcher sire and greyhound dam
  9. jeff have you had her behind a lure yet ?
  10. never really understood this 'dogs for the season' thing, it seems to imply dogs are only for the hunting season and perhaps only one at that but anyway heres jazz going into her 5th season and belle starting her second
  11. season starting?......we've no even had summer yet
  12. there is a few beddies working hard below and above ground around scotland and i know of one thats going to be a daddy soon to a greyhound bitch
  13. hhhhheeeeeeeeellllllppppp !!
  14. there a a few in the know who still hunt beddies
  15. i'd add get the pup out early preferably somewhere remote so your at least on your own (that way theres no chance of the pup messing up and you losing it) and burn of some of its excess energy before working on the obedience and familiarisation (the boring bit)
  16. i agree trenchfoot an ongoing auction seems a popular and good idea and surely wont take a lot of managing...............
  17. Nice pup - looks like it still has a bit of growing to do yet. What is the brindle dog? The brindle is 2 years bull type cheers jim get that grass cut it's a disgrace what people will think?
  18. a cross for rabbits.......not too big...22 / 23"....... .............1st x greyhound / collie bitch springs to mind
  19. the more exposure to different stimuli you can give the pup the better, walking next to main roads or busy precincts etc a beach walk with a heavy noisy sea running is good too. as for the yapping i'd try getting him on a lure with really short slips to start with it'll give him lots of confidence as he is always going to catch his prey (the lure / rag) let him forget about frustrating bunnies for a while.plenty boisterous games and the old tug of war, maybe he's just a slower maturing type give him time, i teach mine to bark / speak on command maybe that will help him learn when and when not
  20. some of the best dogs i've owned or seen have been 'small', imo it's fairer to go by weight rather than height as a 22" stocky type can have more substance than a tall rangy 26". the smaller ( under 30lb's) types often have a wee bit extra oomph that the bigger more laid back types lack. pre ban i've had non ped whippets take roe and fox, and for my money it's a bigger deal for a dog to take quarry sometimes double their weight (ie 20 odd lb whippet taking a decent roe) than it is for a bigger more substantial type to simply overpower it's prey. having said all that my preference is for a 24 t
  21. looking well+ nice size pups, and from very good dogs roll on oct , Bryn will have new mate roll on next october.......he'll have some competition
  22. i'm sure the last i got was from the greyhound megastore give them a bell or try your nearest track they often have a supplies van selling this kind of gear
