for me, every pup is different and learns things and matures at a different rate, by all means get them accustomed to the sights and sounds of the countryside early, make pals with smelly's, learn a wee bit of obedience, respect the nets, seeing an adult dog picking up bolters, learning to mark etc but there's a world of difference between bringing a pup on to 6hrs in the cold with sometimes not a lot to do, best to do it in a lot of small steps that the pup whatever age can manage
