don't see any need at all bud, another couple of months training it'll be the start of it, your pup could be ready for a wee shine by october / november, all going well the fitness will come naturally as its confidence and work rate grow, stick to playing and retrieving just now and this time next year get yir walking boots on

the coursing guys need a dog faster than the next..........rabbiters need a dog faster than a rabbit

mods.....maybe with this topic we should go down the candy crush route.........can we buy extra likes? iww......a credit to our game your enthusiasm is almost as good as your wee dog .....can't the kc recognise a real whippet should have function over form

when i go on my hols my mucker who has a smallholding looks after mine, he has access to hundreds of acres of hunting and miles of country / farm tracks he runs his deerhound and collie cur behind his hilux for miles on top of mooching etc... for the first few days mine are gonna struggle a bit however fit they are, imo andy's only taking his daily 'strolls' with a variety of dogs and reporting back maybe giving a few on here an insight into the work needed to get man and dog up to scratch, i'm sure if by the end of her stay she's first back and wanting more he'll be the 1st to say........and

above advice all good and the more it catches and sees the less the excitement and novelty factor will be, as its still a pup i'd keep up the retrieving practise and plenty of bond building tug games, plenty of patience and it'll come good

whilst accepting that sighthound is an essential ingredient in a lurcher, bedlingtons, bulls, collies, wheatons etc all have desire and heart and when the sighthounds have bounced off the brick wall and lying in bits they'll still be trying

defo Defo???? Okay....so apart from a shiny coat how does it benefit the dog???? remember his name and pic here..........he still living in the 60's maybe brylcreem's the way to go for a shiny coat

when we raced we used to use supplements but with a good varied diet i dont think lurchers need them, get out fishing at this time of year and stock the freezer with mackeral, all the fish oil and good protein there failing that tinned pilchards or sardines once a week are good with the bonus the tomato sauce helps with any cramping problems, red meat (liver, hare, venison etc) good source of iron, theres lots of books and web info out there and the mutts don't get bored with the same old

well done bud always good when a young un comes good on the subject of nails....my two walk totally differently to each other, ones powerful and deliberate and tends to keep her own nails in check the other kinda floats she's got big strong feet but her nails get trimmed weekly this helps keep the quick up a bit........if yours is as canny and trusting as she looks, you'll get a lot of stick for it from your mates as i do but why not try a dremel on her nails, i find more control than just clippers once they're used to the noise and a treat when your done they accept it fine

start with a plank in the yard when they're pups and gradually increase its height, that way they grow up jumping naturally and have confidence to jump when you begin to teach the commands bit and increase the height and vary the obstacle
-
something i've always found the collies concentration and quick thinking can be worth a yard or two in some situations, a slower dog in the right place is always gonna outcatch a fast dog in the wrong place

are you starting to take boarders ?

seen a few decent dogs over the years most of the good ones had collie blood.....out with a mates collie grey x bull grey last winter that impressed fast for only 50% greyhound but smart and determined as well
