birddog replied to B.P.R's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
good pics, good day, i put it all down to global warming but i suspect usual service will resume in scotland shortly........cauld n dreich -
thats a smart looking bitch mate , but forget all about electrolytes, make the bitch your pal, give her time to heal, lots of walking will get her up on her toes and sort them nails out, i think if you take your time and put a wee bit of time and work into her you'll have your mate kicking himself for getting rid of her

i'd forget the bike mate, decent roadwork, a bit of swimming, ballwork, woodland / hedgerow mooching, retrieving / jumping practise, etc will get her fit and give her some variety, lamping season not far away and by building up from a dozen runs or so by november she'll be flying

2 collies and 2 greys is a start.1 collie and 2 Grey's would be a better start imo 2 collies and 2 greys is a start.1 collie and 2 Grey's would be a better start imo 2 greys a border and a beardie of working type, would be good if you was young, rich etc etc. Bit of bull in the mix too.....job done.... beardie/border/grey x bull/grey ..... maybe get him over a beardie/border x grey in the future if all goes to plan interesting.........and a serious question............but why ? has he too much bull ? are you looking to increase the collie side ? would the wee bit extra c

my 3/8 5/8 sounds much like jb's a pleasure to be around, has a knack of right place right time mooching and ferreting, was maybe a wee bit too much prey driven (especially on the lamp) as a youngster (had some scary moments including knocking herself out) but seemed to learn or grow out of it, she stalks game out daylight mooching but never so far on the lamp........... i may be wrong but i think the way hancock produces them using a reverse 3/4 stud over a greyhound would be less likely to throw the leggy 'wastage' types as opposed to breeding a 3/4 with a 1st x, suppose it would be the sam

Ive been ripped of by vets too many times had dog bleeding to death in a waiting room while they waited for there £100 upfront. Ive been told stories of them skimping on drugs they put dogs down with and the dogs are waking up in plastic bags. Ive had them do bad stitching jobs leaving stuff in wounds and when my mate took a dog the had been spiked by a muntie they tried telling him the dog had been hit by a car and would need this and that. Why anyone would line a bad vets pockets i have no idea. As gaz said a goodun is worth there wieght in gold but its finding a goodun thats the problem

although i'm a 'to each their own' guy, i have mates who 'jab' their own pups etc but i've used the same vet for years, he knows me, he knows my dogs, he's not the best vet in the world but he's not the worst, he knows i take care of minor ailments / injuries, he know's he can't pull the wool over my eyes, he charges what he charges it's his business after all, what worries me however is if anyone looks to save a few quid on innoculations for a pup that's hopefully going to be with them for many years where else are they going to skimp ? with the time, feeding, effort, training etc that we sho

look smart........blue brindle for me

wirral countryman........great pics top class looking dogs gaz............like wc (sorry i dont like that abreviation) i have said on here before my once in a lifetime dog from the early 80's was dg x cg and one of my current bitches has deerhound blood, laid back attitude, good coat n feet, plenty of fire if needed the only downside is their size, so for my logic it makes sense to have smaller breeds in the mix not all whelps will be big or small but get the right on and your on a winner

i think the thing with collie x's in general and ferreting dogs the more you work them the better they get
-
very smart gotta agree with rain.....i like that wee bit of badness look
