  1. It's a breed in America. Roosevelt used to keep them I believe http://www.ratterrierclub.com/ http://www.runningridgeratterriers.com/history.html Ignore the bullshit history bit (smooth fox terriers and manchester terriers didn't actually exist in 1820 ), most breeds have a history made up like that by the relevant clubs.

    A new Mixy?

  3. Hyphen, your dog doesn't know he's a rat terrier mate so give him a go! There's no law saying a rat terrier can't be an earth dog. Try it and see. If he ain't then he ain't....nothing wrong with trying mate.
  4. My best mate out your way likes a bit of Wolfy in his pig dogs and he explained it to me like this: If you want to add size to your pigdogs then was two ways of doing this, you could either add English Mastiff (or Bull Mastiff) or you could add Wolfhound. This gives you size and mass in both options, but the Wolfy cross would be a bit racier than using the Mastiff blood. If you look at the breeds used in the Wolfy recreation, then it's pretty much a "boardog" anyway going by some of the crosses I've worked with over there. It's all down to personal preference at the end of the day though,

  6. The wolfhound is a recreated breed mate using deerhounds/borzois/great danes and even a pyranean if rumour is believed. They aren't the dog of legend in the old stories. They were bred to "look" like the old wolf dogs. Having said that, I've seen some uselful Wolfy crosses on the pigs over your way.
  7. Welcome aboard. Had a mate with a Kelpie/Bull and that was a decent finding dog. Hell on legs though

  9. I saw rat for sale in a market just outside of Bangkok. There was an old woman sat on the floor roasting them for the passing shoppers. I declined when she waved one at me

    why??

I'm so sorry....I'm a bad man. I was under the impression that people posting threads on the internet opened up topics for discussion. Silly me.

    why??

What the f**k are you moaning for then? if nothing got hurt then going by your story your dogs have been lucky.

    why??

Damn right LB I know what my dogs are like, hence they are under control. You might know what your dogs are like ie harmless but if they are running up to strange dogs (which they clearly are) then it's entirely your fault if they come a cropper.

    why??

I've been in the same situation many times when I've had mine on the lead. I've had dogs come racing up to mine and I've shouted for the owners to get them on the f*cking lead. The response is always the same...."don't worry they are friendly"................well I'm f*****g sorry, but mine aren't, that's why they are on a lead. If your dogs are off the lead then it's your problem as it wouldn't happen if they were under control.
  17. Excellent pics Pan That bitch of yours really is something. Always a pleasure to watch her work. Even if she does steal rabbits off my bitch :11:
  18. on or off....never had a problem. I don't run mine with a collar now but that's just because I can't be arsed to put one on
  19. You don't have any rats? and so you are using guinea pigs? I've never been to a country that didn't have rats. Are Guinea pigs wild out in Slovakia then mate? As for "first fight" it's not exactly going to be much of a fight is it! Why don't you take the dog to the earth trials they hold in your country, let it get used to the sights and sounds? Chucking it a couple of guinea pigs isn't the answer.
  20. Remembering all the lads and lasses who never came back from all the wars and those who are still fighting today. We will remember them.
  21. shit, that's a difficult one mate! I only have experience with a small amount of rifles - most of the HW range, a few BSAs and a few Air Arms. For me the best I've used is the TX200HC by quite some way. Build quailty is first rate, smooth as you like, bags of punch and with the carbine version, short enough to be used in the cab of a Land Rover.
  22. You did the best thing by him mate and you know it. Have a good drink for him and remember the good times.
