  1. There's nowt like a bit of water work with the tykes. You always get a few raised eyebrows
  2. Find the dog with the attributes you want to add to the cross and use it, whether that is Staff, English or whatever. Plenty of lads use the English in Australia which is something not seen very often here. Different quarry species but there you go. If I was getting a bull cross for the traditional work a bull cross is associated with, I know what I'd be looking for

  4. Not always the case Midnight. They come in all different sizes and packages and gameness has nothing to do with size at all. There's been some big old game dogs in this country and there still are. You've obviously seen some crosses, be they AmBull/Staffs or whatever, but there's dogs on here that have been bred down from some very good game dogs and the boys are well aware of their capabilites. I've seen some decent boxer crosses in Australia and they seemed to do the job so in no way am I knocking boxers. It seems to me that there's always a steady stream of people wanting the next
  5. Handsome dogs ....if a bit womblish
  6. Thee's a cheeky c**t Roundhead :11: Thank you very much lads. I had a fantastic time back in the homeland and the bitch enjoyed herself too. I've filled my freezer up and the pheasants are marinating as I type this. I rarely get the chance to look at the bitch at the work she was bred for and when I do I thank god for the breeding
  7. I'd love to know how these dogs are bred. I've always been wary of folk with something to sell but I could be wrong in this instance. I thought those articles in EDRD were little more than a sales pitch, which if I'm honest I don't really like to see, but if these dogs are the real thing then lets hear about it. Am I right in thinking they've got husky in them? And didn't Mr. Burrell want to breed JRearthdogs Airedales/Airedale crosses into his line?
  8. My mistake then fella. Staffs are very, very limited in what they offer, you are quite right.
  9. I don't think he's on about owning one....
  10. Got 3 on my local ponds
  11. I see Jeff Burrell is on writing a book, if his article in this months EDRD is anything to go on......
  12. Believe it or not mate, some people actually keep pure bulls around kids :11: Treat every dog the same....never trust them around kids 100%.....as good as they are, you don't want to be proved wrong. Bull crosses as a type are as good as any other type. Bulls have been bred to be people friendly for an awful long time.
  13. Leave him alone Jacko :11:

  15. Are you sure this is right? There's about 3 threads running with this on smoochers and it sounds like a hoax to me. Certainly that particular freepost number anyway.
  16. The thing is I'm such a little fella that a bag of sugar is heavy to me mate if you do get one of them bullworker things see if they do a ladies version as I don't want to hurt my delicate frame ya know :11: :11: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll get you a "My First Bullworker" from Fisherprice :11:
  17. Nice to see the old girl out and about mate. That's tough luck about the pup breaking down, I was looking forward to seeing her.
  18. Looking good mate Get that rawhide bone off her though and feed her some proper food :11: Looks like she's going to be a strong one mate. I'm not surprised you struggle to pick her up though, seeing as you had to get shot of your TX as you couldn't hold it steady :11: I'm going to buy you a bullworker for Christmas :11:
  19. Glad to see the bitch did well lads

  21. The ones I saw in Poland were much bigger than 14"
  22. Stop reading books....especially American books :11: :11: Fell terrier is a catch all title that encompasses Patts and Lakies and Border/Lakies etc etc. What do you guys in the UK think?
  23. Very popular in certain countries on the continent. Haven't seen anything over here though. Size is a big problem with them over here (and abroad). I've seen some work in trials in Poland where they are very popular for boar work.
