One of my neighbours is an old boy who races gryehounds and he keeps a few that he runs at the huge numbers of hares that we have local to us. Actually, that's not quite right as "the man" has just built a dual carriageway through our coursing ground. Anyway, he gets his charges out in the field and runs pretty much the same quarry as I do. His dogs do fine although on occasion he carries his off the field, whereas I walk mine off. We run very, very rough ground so it's not surprising they suffer with their feet a bit

Good to hear Tiff We're in winter here now and the season is in full swing so we're out every night and I couldn't tell you how much ground we cover. I still jog a fair bit even though my knees are crying out for me to stop. Did a half marathon a couple of days ago and the dogs don't even bat an eyelid. I've run a couple of marathons with them and it's never a drama. Interesting feeding regime you guys have there too. We get free kibble (Hills Science Plan, Eukanueba etc etc) and we just give it away to pet dog owners that we know. I feed flesh and bone and buy in mutton for the extra fa

Best of luck with the barn hunting NobleB. Nice to see some unusual breeds being utilised in the field. I remember reading about the Boston Bulldogs on Molosserworld many years ago. Take plenty of pics when you start them hunting as I'd love to know how they went.

Which one is that one mate?

I always intended to breed my old Nell to a terrier, just for myself. She worked to a standard that I was happy with, although some places were off limits due to her size, being 24lb and 16". Very useful old girl she was, but she already had a dash of terrier in her a few generations back.

You've got to watch out for those hard-line militant gingers...you know, the ones with the beards Richard Stilgoe, Boris Becker.....van Gogh types....they're taking over whole areas of some estates. It's getting so as no brown-haired person can walk the streets safely in some parts of Luton.

Swimming is part of hunting here at certain times of the year, but I have to swim too as everywhere is flooded Duck hunting was a regular past-time for me when I kept a few terriers about the place...daytime and night. Great sport. -
I've got bugger all experience of Saluki blooded dogs, but does the legendary stamina in these dogs which shows in their runs over distance on big land, lend itself to stamina in terms of a quicker recovery rate - so more runs in the dog than a non-Saluki blooded dog? Surely that would be benficial even for small fields? The coursing I do is scrub and school fields and we do a lot better with my mongrels in the scrub
