  5. All the very best my friend
  6. I agree about the Lurcher journals. Hard to find copies that haven't started falling apart these days
  7. There are four different people posting with the same IP address on this post. You know who you are and you've got one hour to pm which name you'd like to keep, otherwise they all go.
  8. I'd hate to come across the snake that could do that to this bad boy
  9. Lads, I've edited some posts and deleted others. Please use your heads when you're posting and think about what you're saying.
  10. I agree with you about the ratting BBB. Had a few that I used for bushing and generall all round work and they suited me ok. Great engines on them and one had a surprisingly good nose on him. He ensured we probably caught more than we actually should have done. Not surprisingly very hard but with decent manners and could work in company in a lot of circumstances.
  11. A couple of old pics of some dogs I used to keep. Worked together well enough for me.
  12. I was back in Blighty last week for family reasons and I spent a night trawling through some 45's accompanied by a bottle of Black Bush....happy days!
  13. Thanks mate....just about to pour myself a Tullamore

  15. Someone from the other site has lifted them of Ozziedoggers then, as there's some of the members' family photos in amongst that lot.
  16. Aren't all of those pics just lifted of Ozziedoggers?
  17. Is it out yet? Anyone read it?
  18. Just my take on things....In the pre APBT days, which were obviously pre-DDA and pre-internet days, an interest in owning a bull terrier didn’t seem as prevalent and widespread as it is now. Mass communication was the tv, telephone and newspaper. It wasn’t the situation in 100% of the cases, but a lot of lads who kept sporting dogs did so for specific reasons. There was no A-frame, or weight pull or other “athletic†dog sports to legitimise the casual ownership of such dogs. Sure the pet homes kept them, but nowhere near to the extent that they do now. If a lad wanted in on this type, t
  19. Some good posts there Gnasher and Duckwing Different regions had different types of fighting dogs before the "Staffordshire Bull Terrier" came along, and even in the Black Country, there were at least three different types of "Staffordshire", although one type came to be used for the breed standard. Where did all of the other fighting dogs go? Maybe some became extinct, maybe some were absorbed into a homogenised Staffordshire Bull Terrier. One thing's for certain, distinct types such as the Cheshire, Dudley, Red Smut and Blue Paul/Poll have long gone (especially now that Plummer is dead
  20. Fair enough Steve. Just playing devil's advocate though....but an Airedale blooded stag...that's a lurcher All the best Steve. Hope you guys had a good Christmas.
  21. Steve, just curious .....why suggest the lad gets a lurcher (airedale cross) and then follow up with your last statement saying that lurchers aren't necessarily the best fit for Australia? Did you mean collie lurchers specifically?
  22. Mothballs, the dog is a working beardie type.
  23. Neither mate. I brought her over and mated her to a friends very nice greyhound. Mothballs, there could be a litter about to be bred out of the sister to my Jasper dog to a Smithfield. Warrigal would be the best man to speak to on that subject. This bitch was the pick of the litter and I would have kept her but I was after a dog.
