  1. I asked for Webley Tracker or a Airsporter Stutzen.....I got a Homer Simpson pint glass and a wooden 3-D jigsaw of a dinosaur.......and that was off my then wife.....needless to say, she was binned soon after
  2. That was how PP's Jasper was bred. Peter Tulip gave the breeding of that in EDRD a while back
  3. Give me a copy of Will the Circle be Unbroken on vinyl and I'm happy
  4. An old picture of a Patterdale/Stafford mix that I used to run a long time ago. Great little dog on top.
  5. He asked permission before he used that title and it was gladly given
  6. Can't wait for this one!! I got an email from Wales overnight and I've been told this one is just a little bit special.
  7. Lyn Harber's new book is excellent
  8. I have no experience whatsoever with castration in running dogs, but for what it's worth I do have experience with castration with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. I picked up a young dog from some pakis in Illford many years ago and they attempted to curb the young lads natural exuberance (quite normal for that type of dog as far as I could see) by chopping his knackers off. This had no effect whatsoever and he was then banished to their garden where he dug himself a pit to live in and was fed peaches I took him on and after exchanging the 200 sheets, I bundled him into my pride and joy Audi a
  9. Really enjoyed this thread...great photography too
  10. Just been reading some old articles and it made me realise I've gone past the fourth anniversary of an old dog of mine's passing. I haven't had one of that type since, but I must admit, I'm getting withdrawal symptoms and have been for a while now! It has recently come to my attention that, as bizarre as it seems, I would appear to know my own dog’s ancestry in more detail than I do my own. When I kept bull terriers, I would sit enthralled as mates and acquaintances would real off pedigrees like some idiot savant on the set of Record Breakers TV show. Remember that show with Roy Castle and
  11. Sorry to burst your bubble mate but we have our own namby pamby leftist running Australia, though I suspect her days are numbered
  12. I feel a little ironic typing this but they TAUGHT you well Simon, Simon, Simon....what are we going to do with you? Learned in this context only sounds incorrect to your modern ears because of the acceptance of "taught" being the only right word. For the more more northerly folk on here the word learn is entirely acceptable as they use it in the manner in which is was intended by our nordic forebears. Learn means both learn and taught in Danish, Swedish and Norwegian so it's merely a hangover from those days when we sailed on dragon boats, drank Skol and listened to A-Ha. So rabbi
  13. Bred by my best mate...no mastiff in them. The line through the sire is Wolfhound, Bull Terrier and pit. Dam is part Arab and there's some Stag in there too. Their owner is on here so he might chirp up if he sees this.
  14. You'd be surprised mate, plenty of them do. Best one dog I've ever seen one out was the white dog in this pic, admittedly he's not one out here Bit of a better pic of him A son of his and his dam, on the left obviously
  15. Guys can argue for pages and pages about the origins of the Bull Arab This link was recently posted on Ozziedoggers http://www.australianbullarab.com/Photo.html
  16. That's the type we started out with as kids, raking around Kentish orchards armed with air rifles that would make the ones chained to travelling fairgrounds look state of the art. We used to see that type around everywhere and we'd give them all a go. They provided us kids with years of fun and sport and they were responsible for getting me hooked. I spent many years trudging home covered in nettle stings; wet Levi's and desert boots, sometimes with a rabbit, much more often empty handed, accompanied by bandy-legged snipey nosed white terriers - thinking I was the Big-I-Am. A smile on my face,
  17. I'm out of the loop over here...what are these deer books you're referring to Artic?
  18. I wouldn't even dream of stating what is or isn't the best all round terrier, but I can say that the best all round dog that I have had was a terrier and she was 3/4 Staffordshire Bull Terrier 1/4 Patterdale. If that makes me a twat then so be it. As a pest controller she was a god-send to me and she tried her hand at pretty much everything. I used to use her with the air rifles and shotgun; she would find and kill foxes on top for fun; she would work tirelessly retrieving geese and ducks for me; I used to lamp the becks with her and she'd keep me in ducks; and you could dig to her, even t
