    Great news Wilfred. I'm pleased for you and the dog mate. As you know I had dramas with my old girl a few years back, but she recovered and put a shift in, but age and her injuries caught up with her eventually and she spends her days stealing my tomatoes and dreaming of eating my quail

    Something written a good while ago My love of dogs has seen me travel a few miles over the years, not just trips around the UK but also as far afield as Australia and the US amongst other places. Back when I kept bull terriers, me and my mates would travel the length and breadth of Britain to go and see dogs and we’d spend many an hour on the road discussing the merits of one type over another.     I took her out the first day I got her back from Wales and we bolted a rabbit from a tree stump across a beck that was usually good for a bunny or two The bunny bolted, followed by the terrier and Meg (the Wheaten cross) chased for about 6 yards and then came trotting back wagging her tail. She came good though in the end though and turned into a real little opportunist

    All this talk of Wheaten crosses has had me flicking through some old pics and reminiscing about an old bitch of mine that was bred by Al Capone and given to me by a mate from South Wales. She had zero prey drive, and I mean zero. This was the first fox she ever saw I think....it was 2004 or 2005 and she wasn't in the slightest bit interested. This one was caught trying to get back through a fence next to the Eurostar link between Ashford and London. As you can see, she wasn't that big. The terrier was 16" and Meg would have been 20/21 max although she was bred in the purple.

    There was a chap in the south west who bred functional bull mastiffs (lower case intended) but they weren't Bull Mastiffs as the KC know. I think his intention was to do something with the breed and moniker....I remember supplying him with 19 century Bull Mastiff breeding and training literature many years ago. Not sure what he is up to now as last I heard his name he'd just gone on his "holidays"

    It's a subject close to my heart and something I've sat and thought about more than is probably healthy. It's certainly a heartbreaker and yes it's the dogs that suffer, individually and as a breed as a whole.

    got a decent collection of ns myself ..altough i have shifted a few on ebay for silly money Thankfully not to me Stig I've just sourced myself a record shop out here who has piles and piles of soul singles that sit neglected in boxes and I've found some absolute gems....when I take them to the counter to pay he simply asks "what do you fancy paying for them mate?"
