  1. That was a terrier I think. The "whippet" was the noisiest b*****d I've ever had out :11:
  2. Is he a half cross Sicko?
  3. Has anyone got any pics of wheaten crosses?
  4. That's one hell of a jump Bez.... :11: I've got a collie lurcher here and she was taking squirrels for fun at a very early age, and she's the boss of my bull terriers but she won't do fox, despite showing an early interest in them. She's a bailer
  5. Have you been getting another gun?
  6. Your dog's only a 1/4 collie so you've every chance. It's not whether they are physically capable, it's all about mind set. Most lurchers are more than physically capable as most foxes you are going to encounter are not going to weigh at much more than 20lb and most being much less. It's if they've got the minerals which is the $64,000 question
  7. Lying firebug b*****d :11: :11:
  8. That fawn thing? Not what he told me :11:

Excellent that Moll Sounds like a rare old time
  10. LovableGit had a whippet that did foxes no bother at all Be aware though that when you say whippet, you are talking about animals that can range from 15lb to 45lb and upwards. There are lots of different types of "whippet"
  11. Yep, saw it. Went to it for stud twice. Dog was 24 1/2" and 55lbs racing fit. The big ones are why they have the no limits racing.
  12. Hardblood is a term used to describe a whippet with a good dose of greyhound blood Snelly. There's one that was winning a lot last year that I was trying to use on my black bitch and that was actually 7/8 greyhound but ran as a whippet as it could fit in the traps used for bends racing. Some of the whippet racing folk are dead against it, naturally, but others seem to like it. Basically, hardblood is an unregistered grew. You're right about Phil, he was the one who nudged me in the direction of using that blood.

  14. Quote from this month's Sporting Gun............ ".....then there's the league's second initiative to buy up marsh and moorland, strip it of sporting rights then sell the land on again." "Broadly speaking the type of land it proposes to buy is only valuable thanks to the sporting rights that come with it. Strip these out of the equation and the sell-on price for much of this countryside will tumble like a stone. Such prime sporting locations will now only be worth what you can get for the grazing rights." "And what of the land it can't sell? That presumably, will go to rack and
  15. It don't stop them wandering. This one is sackless and he ranges for miles. I've just learned to live with it and he was a very useful finder in his day.
  16. I'm using 42g No.3 at the moment. The amount of times I've let charlie run when I've had 32g No.6 in for the pigeons is heartbreaking Wasn't there a survey done a couple of years back that found that 1's and 3's were the most efficient for fox control?
