A local farmer mate of mine has lost a lot of sheep over the years, we are in beautiful hill country on the edge of towns so it's par for the course. He has the claims down to an art form....he claims for the sheep (which are obviously pedigree texels), he claims for the time per hour of himself and 3 staff, he even claims for the cost of his bullets if he shoots the dogs. He certainly doesn't go through his insurance if he finds the owner

Mate of mine went in the gun shop other day and some of our ethnic friends were walking out with a .223, members of a rifle club apparently. Mate mentioned that there was some big gaps in the gun racks.... bloke behind the counter said yes it's your mates buying em. Apparently for 18 months the Abduls have been buying guns, first air rifles, then they have got shot gun certificates...now they are picking up facs. Sold loads to em recently. Should Scotty's big collapse come then there may be a bit of a scuffle on our hands. Farmers will have to be on the ball looking after their livestock

It's something people have always argued about. Your more likely to be seriously injured by a leopard but more likely to be killed by elephant, buff or lion. Most PH's killed in Africa have been by buffalo, most 'civillians' by hippo. Cow elephants come second for both groups. If a lion charges and gets through it won't let go until you are dead, a leopard will maul you, the PH and your tracker in seconds then be gone. I've rarely left Lancashire though so I know feck all, just what I've read. Nearest I've come to big game hunting is carrying my double .410 over my shoulder while h
