So by your way of thinking where dose the newcomer to the dogs go to get his start in the game? where dose the genuine lad who has had to get out of the dogs for a few years and lost contact go to make a new start?...i dont breed dogs but have no problem with those that do as long as they are honest and the dogs are healthy...buying a dog is the same as anything else in life you need to put a bit of thought and research into it...like a car or a woman go into it with your eyes closed and you ended up getting your pants pulled down...but thats life! most of us learn the hard way...bought my fir

Spot on, they were never bred as pets, thats where it went wrong. Bred to work , a dog with high prey drive, that needs[ alot of exercise] with a job to do.? When Earl Tudor spoke of the 'White rock' dog he put the dogs success in the pit down to the fact it was raised as a family pet he considered hand raised dogs to have an advantage over kennel dogs he would also let Black jack run free over his farm and was said by other dogmen of the day that he loved his dogs like a woman...obviously reading the above todays 'experts' know more than this great old dogman ever did...in fact reading

dont know about the 5 years but the rest is right...my old mans advice on this sort of situation(for what its worth) was...GOATS because goats allways need someone on site to milk them...sell the milk and declare some to the taxman so in the eyes of the law your smallholding is also your livelyhood...JASPER i feel for your mate situations like this make my piss boil!...a good mate of mine plus his wife and kids are going through the same situation...

the ends of the wire should be joined together with metal crimps but these are the weak point as is the screw in the bone...the first 6 weeks are the dodgy period after then you can start building up the dog with short lead walks and hydro therapy...after 3 months im told you should almost be out of the woods...

the op for cruciate ligaments in the knee is slightly differnt no rod to fuse the bone just a screw in the thema and a hole drilled in the tibia (spelling) the line used i was told was 80lb breaking strain fishing line but as you say in a figure 8 held in place with metal crimps...can i ask Molly how long after the op did she break the line?

It is called TPLO, Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, it's in the link of my post immediately before the post of the quote above. Either choice of surgery, if successfull will give the same final result. TPLO is a better choice than rubber bands generally on medium to larger breeds. I hope all goes well and the dog makes a full recovery. The vet that I used is first class, and I wouldn't say that about some of the others, and despite ensuring the dog had post op care to the final detail (he is with me 24/7) it took three operations before it was right. The total cost.....multiply by six what y

"they could move it in ways they say it should not move"...thats the line that concerns me...the cruciate ligaments make the knee joint open like a hindge if the ligaments are ruptured, blown or broke it will allow the 2 surfaces of the joint to rub together breaking up cartlidge and destroying the surface of the joint this will cause arthritis in the joint...the only thing that makes any real differance to treating arthritis is Glucosamine and this is made more effective mixed with chondrotin...the standard operation for cruciate ligaments is replaceing them with fishing line...sorry mate but

Well he must be a proper worker cos hes all muddy an that! ...think i would have taken this thread more seriously if your first post hadnt of been talking about putting this super worker over your greyhound bitch...there allways seems to be a litter involved at some point with these sort of threads...give the dog a wash mate -

DO YOU CALL A STAFF A BULL? NO YOU CALL IT A STAFF. BULL IS THE ABBREVIATION THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW ABOUT THESE DOGS CALL IT Staff's,english bulls and pits are all bull breeds...back in the 1960's-70's the BULL in bullx was what??...cos it wernt pit Going back to the original topic this is a cross that has really interested me...would think with the right blood this would produce some handy dogs anyone got any pic's they could post up or opinions from those that have run em?

Also have to say fair play to the bloke and why shouldnt he charge £650 a pup after all the years and work he has put into them , some one buying a pup is reaping the benefits of all his work . Same as when i sell a staff i have had them for generation after generation and worked them and when people dont wanna pay the money what i ask why should i let all my hard work go on the cheap .......... Only just seen this...no need to be so touchy fellas...i only mentioned how much the pups got punted out for i didnt say it was right, wrong, good or bad...i havent even really took a dig at Lyn

and fair play to you for that...i belive breeders of any breed of dog should be breeding for the healthiest example of their chosen breed...but...this is a hunting forum and the emphasis is on a working dog...and i personally dont belive the english bull is any longer a working animal...crossing it with pit or staff will give you a hardy hybrid in the short term but in the long run for it to be an english bull it has to LOOK like an english bull and in a breeding program for working dogs comprimise like breeding for looks is where it will all fall on its arse...and in my opinion history proves
