  4. My trusty old warrior hob died today, and i am absolutely gutted i have lost him from my team, i have had 7 great years catching plenty of rabbits with him, it was a pleasure to have had the privilage to work him he probably one of my best in the 14years i have been ferreting, he will take some replacing my little jill the only one left of my team looks deflated, been together for a long time. So would just like to say fairwell to a great ferret, and i hope i get another like him.

  6. Hello would just like to know if anyone would like to convert a traditional 100yard longnet my grandad has found in his shed for me, which has never been used into a quickset system, i already have a quickset longnet and another to my collection would come in extremely handy i would attempt it my self but not sure how to get the baggage correct, i understand i will loose some length as a result of the baggage, which is fine, if anyone can help if you could PM me that would be great, thanks Wingnut

  10. I went up to my local church to collect the mole traps i set on saturday morning, i would of guessed there would only be one/two working as there cant of been more than a dozen fresh mole hills but when i went up tonight to pick up my four traps i set the first trap i checked (talpex) produced a mole looked like i caught him saturady night didnt look fresh fresh, then went to next two traps and they were empty so gathered was just the solo mole working but when i checked my last trap (Trapline trap form Steve Albano) i had a double one from each direction, the one mole was fresh still warm an

  13. Hi everyone, i would appreciate if anyone on this forum can help me with a little trouble i'm having, i have just recently just took up tying my own flies after a few years of fly fishing, i have brought myself a kit and have begun tying some simple flies i will be using on my loacl waters shortly, but there is one area i was struggling with whilst tying my flies the whip finish, so i decided i would purchase a whip finish tool(rotatable) but the problem is i didnt get any instructions with it and i cant seem to work it out, if anyone could help by step by step how to use it or some advice in
  14. There is a product called ' Silent Roar' which can be purchased from many garden centres/shops basically it is lion dung and has got high nitrate levels in it cats hate it they wont come now were near, solved the problem with them visiting my garden they are like little pellets which last for a longer period than the green gel stuff once you start noticing the pellets had degraded simply scatter some more but use the gloves provided, and its not to expensive either, another thing i tried to is them cat spikes that you can get for walls and fences simply bury in ground were they use as toilet,

  16. Hi everyone just a quick question really and would appreciate if any one could help, went to set some traps this morning and from looking at one of my talpex traps i could see some how i'm not sure how but the setting pin was bent meaning i couldnt set the trap and to cut a story short i tried straighting it a little so i could set it but i snapped it (to heavy handed) i was just wondering if anyone can suggest what metal would be best to make a replacement pin or anyone who sells spares or just to buy a replacemnt trap . Thanks for any feedback i will hopefully post tomorrow with some more
  17. Been the same for me back at the golf course when all the snow disappeared the moles had certainly been busy over xmas and i had my work cut out gaining control of them once again, my traplines didnt let me down neither did my talpex traps and i even caught one on some talpa traps i brought, but think i might grind my handles of the traps to make them less visible, pictures below of a good start to the new year.
  18. i think ill definately be interested in trying out a few of them . They are definately worth it really good little trap and once you get the hang of setting them (took me a few attempts) they are great and really sensitive and catch the mole precisely.
  19. Yes sure thing steve no problem i can send it by email if you would like, i am over the moon with the trap result cant wait to use them again, thanks for putting the chains on the back for me.
  20. Yes they can be frustrating to catch at times but i get a great sense of achievement when i catch one, i was thinking of making a nice pair of gloves for the winter months ha ha cheers
  21. Well it was my first full week back at work after my two weeks of with paternity, and was looking forward to seeing how much mole activity was present on the golf course during my absence i could not wait to try out my new traps from Steve Albano, on returning to work i discovered a few areas were moles had been working one area were i have already caught two there from a month and abit ago, but any way the result was i caught the one of the 18th relatively quickly on the first day using my talpex, but the other one on the third tee was proving a bit more difficult after checking the trap it w
  22. Thats good to hear trappa as i have also ordered some from steve and cant wait for them to arrive so i can use them.
  23. Thanks trappa and comanche, once i show my boss i will just back fill them in once trap removed easier than disposing of them.
  24. Caught another mole today but this was the smallest mole i have ever seen, from looking at the size of the mole hills i thought this mole was going to be big, but when i checked my trap this morning when i pulled my trap out it was a small one , just goes to show how much soil these little creatures can shift. Just as a question how do others dispose of your pests after you catch them.
