    sitting in the cellar at the moment, i'll give it a week before butchering and getting it in the freezer. Got the head cleaned up yesterday though . 1st one i've done and took a bit of time getting it properly clean. how do you go about cleaning the heads bud??? I skinned the head best i could then boiled it for about 1/2 hr took it to the yard and got the pressure washer on it. Got the stubborn bits with a nail brush.     Bit of an old school rifle , Mannlicher Professional MK III, good old faithful!, Zeiss digital 8x56 scope, T8 and Harris bipod, does the job

    went out lamping last week end with a mate using a silenced 410. He was out the sun roof and i had the .22 for anything further away. Problem is the effective range of the 410 only seems to be about 15 yrds. You can hit em further away but it dosnt stop em.

    At least for bedding down, deer will always go where they feel most secure. If the miscanthus is the densest cover you have on your ground that's where they will tend to gravitate to to relax and chew the cud. Once they've had their nap they will leave the cover and go pretty much where they like. Where in UK are you, and what deer do you have? In Lincolnshire with mostly Roe and a few munties. I think they will be back in the woods now but i can see the problem getting worse as the grass matures and becomes more dense.

    A couple of years ago we planted some miscanthus (elephant grass) about 30ha in all. We have just cut it this year and on closer inspection its full of deer tracks. Does anyone have any experience of this? Going to struggle to get at em in there.

    if you have you home insurance through the NFU then this covers you for shooting too

    theres plenty on the second hand market. I picked up a used model for £200 with aftermarket Houge stock, scope and mod. Have a look in gun trader.

    excellent advice from matty there, if all else fails chck the crown for any slight damage, Also how many rounds has the gun fired has it had a good cleaning, de-coppering....... try this also..... Gents, thanks for the advice, I will have a go with no silence on tomorrow and let you know how I get on. I have given the rifle a thorough cleaning including decoppering so hopefully its not a cleaning issue Dan

    Hi, My first post and i hope someone can help. last year i bought a secondhand 6.5x55 Mannlicher Professional. Once i got the rifle home i went through the zeoring process and no matter how hard i tried i could not get groups below 5" from 50 yrds. The rifle had been threaded for a mod when i bought it and I was shooting it with a T8 and a Zeiss Scope. I have tried to look at the potential problems that could be limiting the accuracy. I have discounted a bad scope and hopefully the operator (I can shoot tight groups with my.22 at that range) and i am using Norma ammunition. On clos
