  5. belive it or not but i have seen a pup 4 months old that day catch a rabbit on the lamp, and this was without the aid of a adult dog. was out lamping with two pups brother and sister and the bitch caught the rabbit. people under estimate the capabilities of pups imo.
  6. Have you worked with any others lurchers before you alsation x? Ask skycat off here, shes the columist in the countrymans weekly sold nationwide... she has owned them... If i recall she said they were fearless but not the best lurcher for any allround work, and not the quickest... Skycat is a columist in the countrymans weekly ,, is that true,? yep is skycat penny taylor then? as she had a german shepherd X that was doing well there was a article in the cmw about it.
  7. ive used first cross alsation/greyhounds. they are a very good cross of dog and will take alot of hard work, they are also more than capable of turning there hands to any job asked of them. they look slow as alot of first crosses do but they are faster than what you think. ive seen them take fox and hare daytime single handed, greyhound dog over alsation bitch produces better working dogs both mentaly and physically imo. i have a alsation/whippet she is a o.k little bitch. my main dog has alsation in him aswell.
  8. just because a dog goes out when its a young pup it doesnt mean it will yapp behind its quarry, there are plenty of dogs that get taken out when they are older that yapp behind quarry. 10 weeks you take yours out at 1o weeks no yes i do. as soon as they have there first jab there out lamping anything from 8-10 weeks. pups are capable of doing alot more than people think. its never hurt my dog and i know others who use the same method and there dogs seem to have turned out o.k aswell.

  10. good for them, i take mine out at 8-9 weeks personally i dont think it hurts them to much. all it does is put a more experienced head on young shoulders.

  18. a good beddy/whippet is capable of catching roe deer and catching them regular.
  19. the sire is a working pedigree whippet. not the clearest of pics, this is the best i could get of the sires owners as they emailed them to me.
  20. just thought i would share a couple of progress pics of my 3/4 whippet 1/4 alsation pups and mother the pups will be 3 weeks old monday. heres mum the pups before anyone mentions the bedding the bitch removes it all as soon as i put any in with her and the pups.
  21. have a look at your dogs nails as somtimes they split. instead of breaking a piece of nail it splits up the nail back up into the toe and everytime you walk the dog it agrivates the foot causing them to limp. my vet told me to have the nail removed of my dog when this happend but i rested him for a long time and it did grow out. atb trigger
  22. do you know what cross your dog is mate, as it will help people to advise you.
  23. if he is a good working dog i would keep him and give him another chance. as the basics hasnt worked on this dog i would change my aproach and get a shock collar that should do the job tidy.imo
