  1. ive taken loads of hares with 19" beddy/whippets on the lamp and seen them take hares in the day.
  2. Probably catch more than any of the bullxs ive seen.
  3. i run my dog on plough in orchards potato fields almost anywhere theres quarry, except for hop fields because of the wires.
  4. went to a couple of hot spots myself last night and there was feck all out. asked a couple of other lads in the area who went out last night and they said they also had the same night as me brilliant weather no rabbits very strange.
  5. its perfect conditions tonite all the best. sharpening my knives at the moement hoping for a good night myself
  6. So you are telling me that if i take 100 dogs bred from long working lines and 100 dogs from lines of non workers then the success rate at working will be even in both groups? There is your answer. what deerhound greyhound as said is his dog as come from none working parents, they could be pets from working strains not every pup bred from working parents ends up in working homes. just because a dog doesnt work it dont been it isnt well bred.
  7. just googled them and your spot on mate looked just like the dog in the second picture thanks for that ibizan hound photos anyone ever ran one???? farely nice looking dogs them.
  8. i use the deben 14ah belt pouch and the lightforce lance lamp with a 30watt bulb never had it go flat on me yet.
  9. seen them do more than one a night single handed pre ban.
  10. ive seen a couple of good first cross beddy/whippets and i have been very impressed with what they can do day a night. i think they are good little dogs.
  11. the thing is dogs are judged on what they have caught and not what they have chased well and almost caught. a dog that goes out a couple of times a week will always look better than a dog that goes 6 nights a week at the begining of the night. catching large bags often, requires alot of heart in a dog.
  12. is there any breed of dog you like to have in your lurchers tomo? i prefer a alsation in my dogs.
  13. Theres not many done it, a lot more dogs have killed 5 out of 5 hares than killed 30+ rabbits in one night imo i had a thought about this the other day. what ever amounts of kills a day time coursing dog gets x that by 5 for a lamping lurcher and youd have a similar standard in each chosen disciplene. 1 hare in day or 5 rabbits in a night average/poor dog 2 hare/ 10 rabbits average/good 3 hare/ 15 rabbits good dog 4 hare/ 20 rabbits very good dog 5 hare/ 25 rabbit excptional dog 6 hare/ 30 rabbis real toppers and so on. it was only a thault and a bit of fun but it seems to convert

  15. my dogs done 30+ a few times, hes alsation/collie X whippet/grey.
  16. we have had topics on the most popular cross, lets here about those that are actually performing well. how many of you run dogs that have done the 30+ bag of rabbits single handed in one night? how many times as that dog achieved that size bag? what cross is the dog?
  17. how big were the parents and which was the mother the poodle or the greyhound, ive thought about giving that cross a try.
  18. i would get the dog fit and take it from there for a while, also look at your dogs weight i have noticed that large dogs even when fit only need to go a fraction over weight and it makes them lazy, where as smaller dogs seem to still run o.k even if they are a fraction over weight.
  19. 44 rabbits is the most i have had with one of my dogs, had a few 50+ with two dogs. had loads of 20s and 30s with one dog.
  20. been out with one or two beddy/whippets and they seem to have plenty of stamina, as with any dog you only get out of them what you put into them on the stamina side of things.
  21. i think it would depend on how much of a c#nt the copper was that caught them.
